I was in my room bouncing a tennis ball against the wall and listening to Michonne and Dad talk.
"Do you have any toothpaste left?" Michonne asked my dad. "No, someone has been borrowing mine for 2 weeks straight." Dad said. "Carl!" Michonne yelled. I chuckled. "What? Denise says it's PT." I yelled back. "Come on out here." My dad yelled. I got up and walked into my dad's room.
"What?" I asked. "Denise says it's PT." Me and my Dad said at the same time. "You heard me." I said bouncing the ball back and fourth in my hands. "Yeah." My dad said as he put on his belt. They both laughed.
"It's time to change your bandage and I need to borrow some toothpaste." Michonne said. I threw my ball to Dad. "Okay but I'm out of toothpaste." I said walking into the bathroom. Michonne walked in.
"You know you're going to have to learn to do this for yourself." She said. I smiled and turned around and took off my bandage. "Turn around. Let me see." Michonne said. "No." I said. "Carl, I need to see if it is infected."
I sighed and turned around. She moved my hair away from my long lost eye and examined it. "Carl, don't be ashamed of your eye." She said. "It isn't your fault this happened to you." I wasn't ashamed. I was afraid I would scare other people away from me. Michonne wrapped my eye back up.
I walked out to my dad. "I'm going to Enid's house." I said. He looked at me. "Okay. Have fun with Enid." He said. I walked outside and went to the wall.
A few minutes later, Enid walked over. "Ready?" I asked. She nodded. We climbed over. We started walking into the woods for a little while.
"Look." She said from behind me. She walked to the side and picked up a blue balloon with a note attached to it. "What's it say?" I asked. She sighed. "It got wet. It's all gone." She said sadly. "Come on." I said as I started walking to the tree. "It doesn't look that old." She said. I slowed down to let her catch up. "Yeah?" I said. "I mean, we cant read what they wrote but, just by doing this they're saying something."
"What?" I asked. "We're not alone." She said. She chuckled. "We knew that." I said. "We saw it. People died." She paused. "Why are we comung out here?" She asked. "Because were kids. Its what they do." I said. "We're not kids." She said. She was silent the rest of the way. We made it to the tree and sat down. I got out some pretzel bites and two comic books. I handed the pretzels and one comic to Enid and started reading.
A little while passed and we heard footsteps. She stood up. "Come on." She said walking to the tree. I kneeled down and pulled out my gun. I looked in the distance only to see Michonne and Spencer. I exhaled.
"It's just Michonne and Spencer." I said as I stood up and turned around to her. "What were they doing?" Enid asked. "Walking. I don't know." I said sitting down and opening my comic. She didn't say anything.
"I don't wanna come out here anymore." She said. I frowned. I stood up and put up our stuff. I grabbed my hat and put it on and began walking. "Okay." I sighed. Enid followed me.
We saw a walker and I walked towards it. "Carl." Enid said worriedly. "Michonne is out here, I'm not leaving it." I said. I whistled which I immediately regretted. I recognized who the walker was. It was Deanna Monroe. The old leader of Alexandria. She was a walker.
