Casserole

I can't believe she left. I hope she is okay. Ding! The timer went off for Carol's casserole. I walked into the kitchen, put on the oven mits, and took it out. I sat it on the counter. I heard a door open from the other side of the house.
I grabbed my gun and walked slowly over to it. Someone was in my living room with my mom. He had chains around her wrists and she was bleeding on her nose.
I waited for my moment to go and stop him. My mom looked over and saw that I was hiding behind a wall. She looked away. This was my chance. He looked away. I walked in and pointed my gun at him.
"Drop the chain and no one gets hurt." I said. The man turned around and looked at me. "Kid. Believe me, you don't want to do that." He said gripping the chain and a knife.
"And why is that?" I asked putting my finger on the trigger. He chuckled. "Have you seen what our people can do?"
"Have you seen what ours can do?" I asked sarcasticly. He gave me a nasty look. "Screw this." He said. I shot the gun but he ran out of the room.
I hid behind the couch and waited for him. Suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder pulling me back. He yanked me over the couch onto the table. My back hurt very bad but I couldn't let that stop me.
My gun fell out of my hand. I stood up and punched him in the nose. He fell to the ground. I walked beside him to knock him out, but he grabbed my leg and pulled me down.
He got on top of me. I stopped him from driving a knife into my skull. He was very strong. I looked over and saw my mom still chained up, but trying to get to me. She was yanking on her chain but it wouldn't budge. She started to cry.
Then, I remembered my dad. What would he do if I died without him here. Judith, she wouldn't have anyone to keep her safe considering my dad was the leader and she doesn't like my mom. Enid. She told me just survive somehow. I will survive.
I knocked the guy off of me and got on top of him. I grabbed his knife and stabbed him in the chest. He started coughing up blood. I stabbed him over and over again until he stopped breathing. I stabbed him in the head last so he wouldn't turn.
I turned to my mom and stood up. I walked over to her and attempted to open her cuffs. I dropped the key because of my hands. They were covered in blood. My mom hasn't seen me kill anyone human yet.
I sighed and unlocked her chains. She turned and looked at me. She placed her hands on my cheeks and then hugged me. I hugged her back. "I love you baby." She said. "I love you too mom." I said.
