They wake up. Screaming is heard downstairs. Lauren jumps out of the bed and runs down the stair with Mike close behind her. Once they reach the bottom of the stairs all they can see are walkers. "What the fuck is this?!" Someone screams. "Who left the door open?" Lauren heard her dad yell. Lauren started shaking hearing her sister cry. Mike wrapped his arms around her in a friendly hug. All they heard was gunshots and all they could see were walkers dropping to the floor. "There's more in the basement so we need someone to go down there and shoot them" Lauren's dad said. "We need someone to risk their life." Heads turned towards Mike. He just looked at them like they told him he has been in a coma his whole life. "No way in hell." He says. "Oh yes." Someone from Lauren's group says. Before they knew it, Mike had a rope tied around his waist and was walking into a walker infested room. "Are you okay?" Lauren asked with her eyes filled with worry. "I'm absolutely perfect." Mike replies rolling eyes. Lauren just blushed. Mike shoots a couple walkers when all of a sudden another walker grabs his foot and tries pulling him down. "Shit! Shit! Shit!" He screams. Lauren immediately cuts off the walkers arm with her knife. She pulls him up. "Y-you saved me." Mike stutters. She looks down and blushes. He pulls her into a warm embrace. Lauren's mom sighs. "Very cute but not the time." Tracy says. Lauren pulls away, still blushing. Mike shoots her one of this perfect smiles that everyone falls in love with. Lauren smiles back. Her eyes scrunch up ever so slightly at the corners and she shows her perfect teeth. Lauren's mom wraps her arm around her daughter. "Let's go chat about this whole walker thing." She says in a cheery voice as her dad shuts the basement door. "Yeah we can't just do nothing about it." He says and puts his arm around Tracy. After deciding to move somewhere else they all just end up having a normal talk. Usually talking about their lives before the apocalypse. Lauren was cuddling next to her mom and sister as her father talked to the rest of the group. "Yeah, my little sister was the best. She was always so kind but...easily distracted." Someone said looking down as tears fall.
"It's okay." Lauren's father assured.
"People you love might be gone. And it's terrible but it's okay. We have to have hope. We have to keep fighting. We have to fight for them. We have to fight because they couldn't. We also have to fight for the ones who are with us today, sitting next to us. Because together we are so much more powerful and we can take on this world." Lauren shifts in her moms arms. "I'm lucky to have most of my family still here." He says and gestures to his family. Tracy waves to the group coaxing some giggles "Some of us aren't. But I'm here to tell you, we're your family now." He said with a smile. "It's our world still. We're just sharing it. We're not gonna let it die without a fight." He said. Lauren's mom gets up and gestures to everyone around her room. "I love my family." She says with a sweet smile. "Now get rested so we can fight in the morning." She said in an innocent tone. "Goodnight, mom and dad." Lauren said and hugged her parents. "I love you." Her mom grips onto her daughter. "Oh sweetie, I love you more." Tracey and Zach were kissing in a corner. Tracey pulls away and looks at Lauren. They start walking toward each other. Lauren wraps Tracy in a huge bear hug. "I love you so so so much." Lauren says quietly. Tracy feels tears star to form in her eyes. "I love you with all my heart." She says, patting her sisters shoulder. "Goodnight little, sis." Tracy says. "Goodnight, big sis." Lauren replies laughing a little
