I lay on the soft sand, sun glasses on, staring at the sparkling blue waves. Ever since the boys left I've just been going about with what I would have this summer had I not met them.

Beach. Longboard. Eat ice cream. Sleep. Repeat.

Even though I was still enjoying myself and keeping in contact with Ethan and Grayson, I felt an emptiness in my heart. It was as if Ethan actually held my heart in his hands and without it near, I couldn't feel complete.

I look down at my phone and see a notification from my best friend Lauren.

Laur: SKYLAR HEY GUESS WHAT

Sky: idk what

Laur: I GOT OFFERED TO TRANSFER TO THIS REALLY GOOD SCHOOL THAT HAS A LOT OF SOCCER OPPORTUNITIES SO IM MOVING

My heart, at least what was there, fell into an abyss in the bottom of my stomach. It wasn't until my next text that all feelings of anxiety dissapeared.

Laur: BEFORE YOU SAY ANYTHING I WOULD NEVER LEAVE YOU BEHIND SO I MENTIONED TO THE SCHOOL YOUR LAX SKILLS AND SHOWED THEM A VIDEO OF YOU PLAYING. THEY SAID THEY COULD USE A FAST LEFT WING ATTACKER LIKE YOU SOOOOO YOU GOT ACCEPTED TOO

Sky: WHATSHFKJSANDF

Laur: YEAH IK

Sky: WHAT SCHOOL IS THIS????

Laur: ITS CALLED HARPER S. HINTON HIGH SCHOOL IN MORRISTOWN

Morristown? That's where the twins live. Does that mean...

Sky: idk if i can even go lauren. what if my parents don't want to move?

Laur: don't worry about that chica. my parents told yours already and WE'RE ALL MOVING AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Sky: THEN LEGGO

I stand up and brush the sand off of my swim shorts. I run up to my house and attack my parents with hugs. They immediately know that Lauren told me about the athletic opportunity we both received.

"Ok sweetheart. I assume Lauren told you the good news?" My dad starts. I nod my head as he continues, "Well we weren't sure at first until your brother convinced us so I think you should be thanking him. Now go pack your bags. We have to leave tonight to start packing for the move."

I run up the stairs, going two steps at a time, and then burst into Ryan's room. His back is faced to me as he plays The Last of Us. He jumps as I hug him from behind repeating the words "thank you".

Ryan scrunches up his face and says, "Yeah ok can you get off me now?

I let him go and go to my room to pack up my belongings. I throw in all my clothes, female necessities *ehem*, and everything else that I brought along with me.

As I finished packing, I checked the time. 5:28.

Mom said we should be on the road by 6 so I have just over half an hour to relax. I walk onto my balcony for the final time this summer and  look out at the horizon.

An array of pinks, purples, oranges, and blues surround the sun that is dipping into the sun like an Oreo in milk. The once blue water has an orange glaze over it, however, the light that shines on the sea is still blinding. You could never know how deep it goes from where I stand.

I close my eyes and breathe in, inhaling this final moment. But the only thing that enters my mind is Ethan, holding me close in the warmth of the sun. His arms are tightly wound around my waist with my fingers interlocking with his own. Ethan's head is rested on my own as we look out into the endless sea. I would look up and see an even deeper sea in his eyes. One that you know you would drown in if you get too close. There was no shallow end.

My eyes shoot open as someone calls my name from below me.

"C'mon Sky. It's time to go. Come and bring your bags down."

My dad's voice confuses me for a second. I look down at my phone and see that it's 5 to 6 already. Stupid daydreams that will never come true.

I grab my bags and head down to our truck. I place them in the back and sit in the backseat of the car. My headphones get placed into my ear as  the soothing voice of Shawn Mendes fills my ears. I look out the car window at the place I call home one last time before it fades into a paper town in the distance. See you next year LBI.

That's my last thought before I drift into a dream-filled sleep. We all know what this little schoolgirl mind dreamed about. Too bad I'm gonna be stuck in the friendzone...again and again.
