Jackies p.o.v

4 weeks later

I look at the horrible drawn picture of me and Cathy. News quickly spread after we left the castle, how could it not? Now these people are accusing me for a traitor and kidnapper, my only sentence is death. I rip it off the brick wall, crumbled it and tossed it aside.

Fools, I started to walk pass stands of rotten apples and vegetables. I glance for at least a hard apple. I look at the owner, staring back at me with a snarl expression. I lean to my right, staring in shock behind the man. He raises an eyebrow and looks behind him.

I quickly swiped the good apple and slip it inside my pouch. The man turns and tells me to either buy something or walk away. I nodded my head and started to walk, pulling my hair closer to my face and covering as much with the hoodie. I brushed pass people, placing my hand closer to their hips where their pouches are and swiftly snatch it.

I sped walk, a good few inches away before a man starts yelling and looking around angrily. I finally ran to an alley, jumping on top of boxes and pulling myself up from the window edge. I slid inside the abandon house, taking off my hood and pushing my hair back.

"I'm here!" I yell, going down the stairs. Cathy, who was sitting and reading a book, looks up and smiles. I walk towards her, putting the pile of pouches on the little wooden table. I kissed her cheek, and took a seat on the wooden chair.

" what have you brought today?" Cathy says, putting her book down on her lap. I pointed to the first pouch.

"I brought 4 apples, 3 carrots, 1 mutton, and fish." I said, then pointed to the next one.

"This one has a dagger, a hammer, perfume and soap." I grabbed it and dug inside for the perfume. I got this one near a selling stand of goods, it was labeled as 'roses'. I pass it to Cathy, who opened it and sprayed it on her fore arm. The smell of fresh roses spread across the room.

She smiles and thanks me for it. I grabbed the last pouch and started to count up the money inside. 32 coins, not bad, we could buy a new quilt for the upcoming fall.

After that, Cathy and I started to prepare our supper, putting the logs in the chimney and placing the pan on top the rail.

Cathy brought the oil and the fish. I went ahead and started to wash the carrots in a bucket and peel them off with the dagger. I heard sizzling behind me, can't wait to eat something.

I poured the chopped carrots into a bowl and place it on the small wooden table. I sat down, stretching. Cathy puts a plate in front of me and puts half of the fish along with the mutton.

I thanked her, and waited till she served herself. As soon as she started I grabbed the silver fork and started eating. I grabbed a couple of sliced carrots and bit into them. I look up to Cathy, who was laughing.

"Jeez were you that hungry today?" She says, still giggling. I smile and wipe my mouth.

"Better then the castle can ever make." I said. The sound of her laugh made a tingle inside my stomach. We are the poorest kids on the block yet she still smiles everyday. She truly was a prisoner to the castle.

We finally finished, and we sat together near the fire place. She read aloud to me, as I stared into the crackling fire. After a while, I stopped Cathy,"I need to change my bandages today."

She nods, closes her book and sits at the arm of the red leather chair. We had two red leather chairs near the fire, it was the only thing we could afford with Cathy's pearl earrings. I removed my jacket, along with my shirt and stood bear backed.
