Danny POV

I woke up to the faint beeping noise. My vision was blurred till I blinked a few times and looked around, catching Grady staring.

"Well well... What has happened here." I laughed weakly before wincing at the pain of my ribs.

"Where... Is Kevin and Ger?"

" G is on his way, Ellie went to watch the baby while he visit you. They didn't want the baby getting sick in the hospital" I closed my eyes and smiled slightly. I had done right for once. Kevin was completely unharmed. Myself on the other hand not so much. My ribs hurt and my head felt swollen.

"Edward?"

"He's dead..."

"Good."

"Damn, someone is harsh."

" He killed Melissa." I opened my eyes and stared at Grady. " He stole Kevin and threated his life if I didn't leave Gerald... Then he said he was going to kill me either way... I said fuck it why not take this bastard out with me or at least try." Grady chuckled quietly, nearly dropping his camera.

"Well fuck D I didn't know you have that much fire... You sure he killed Mel though?"

" He made me meet him where she died... I know he killed her just by the way he confessed. He made Ger and Suz pay.... He didn't even mention James." Our conversation was cut short when he walked in rushing to my bedside.

"You scared the shit out of me D!" His lips pressed against my forehead before reaching my lips. Tears sliding down his cheeks. "You what I would have done if I lost you? Lost Kevin?"

"I'm okay babe... It's okay." I brushed his tears away before he gave a slight smile. "I had to do it... He did it Gerald.. He drugged Melissa... He was gonna kill me if I didn't hurt you... He was gonna kill Kevin too and I wasn't going to let that happen." He sighed and closed his eyes, resting his forehead against mine.

"I love you so fucking much... You're my world and... It just scared me shitless seeing you dead in that car."

"I know Ger... It's okay I'm here... I'm alive."

"Thank God he's not..." Gerald pulled away to look at Suzanne. "I knew Mel better than that and yeah she had issues, but she never would have overdosed..." James had a arm around his mother, she was upset, maybe even angry. "I should have known he would get back at me for running..."

"Ma it isn't your fault." James mumbled as everyone sat down.

"I don't blame myself... No I blame him... If he had gotten Danny killed or Kevin I would have surely killed him with my two bare hands."

"Damn mama Gillum is straight savage" Grady chuckled as did I for a brief moment.

"I just can't believe he would plan to kill you to get back at Gerald."

"Me neither, but I wasn't going to chance Kevin being locked up with him forever. I just prayed those extra seat belts over his car seat were enough." Gerald sighed and squeezed my hand slightly.

"All that matters is that you're okay Danny. Our son is okay and... He's gone. We can finally just focus on us."

"And your music." I cracked a smile as did he before nodding slowly. "Do you know how long I have to stay here?"

"Till they can finish all the testing and make sure you're okay. The doctors say you broke a few ribs, but that's all they've told me so far. They said you're lucky to be alive Danny. He was doing 60lbs when he hit that tree and that other car crashed into him. Hell it's a miracle Kevin didn't even have a scratch on him." I watched him rub his temples before taking a deep breath.

"I'm sorry for scaring you..."

"Scaring me was an understatement. I felt like I lost you twice today. I kept wondering what made you want to leave... After we're doing great."

"I know, but I had no choice... He took Kevin and I wasn't risking his life to tell you the truth... You know I'd never leave you Gerald." I kissed his cheek before sinking back against the pillow. My body was aching all over, but it didn't matter now. My family was safe and out of harm's way.

"I know Daniella..." Grady yawned and grabbed his bag, sighing.

"Alright little mama I gotta go check on Ellie, stay out of trouble all three of you Gillums!"

"I'm not a Gillum yet." I laughed weakly as Grady rolled his eyes.

"Close enough." He left and closed the door, Suzanne was off somewhere else. It was obviously because the love of her life's death was completely different now. She didn't go by her own choice. Maybe they brought peace to Suzanne then again maybe it made it worse. Either way it didn't bring her back. Gerald on the other hand was examining my features as if it was the last time he would see me. Worry written across his face and detailed with grey circles around his eyes. I think being home was more stressful than touring for him.

"I kept thinking what I would miss out on with you had you not woken up.... Our wedding... Honeymoon... Traveling... Your voice." Tears welled in his eyes. "Kevin wouldn't even know what it sounds like... Let alone remember the way you smell and feel." He sniffled before climbing onto the bed and wrapping his lanky arms around me. "I'm gonna change.... I'm gonna make sure you're safe every second of every day. Both you and Kevin." His lips pressed against my temple before I slowly nodded.

"Alright babe... Relax get some rest I think you had a more stressful day than me." He chuckled and lifted my hand, kissing my engagement ring. Then like always I knew something was missing. My legs were tingling as I tried to move then, yet with minimal response. "Ger? What's... What's wrong with my legs?" He stayed silent for a moment before taking a deep breath.

"D... The doctors said... They said you hit a nerve and..." He took a shakey breath. "You might not... Be able to walk... For awhile..."

Nausea then tears... Scratch that... Sobs.
