Chapter 21 Ice cream

James' POV

I do not understand Riley. One minute she's happy and bubbly and the next she has walls up and doesn't let anyone in. Girls, I will never understand them.
Riley came up to talk 30 minutes ago.

Flashback

I was hanging out in my room giving Riley space as she clearly wanted. Some redoing your house show was on when Riley entered. "Can we talk?" She asks quietly. I don't really want to talk but I nod my head anyways. "James, I want to have a heathy marriage so I want to be honest here." I just nod my head in agreement. "Yesterday, I felt the same feeling that I felt all week in Sydney. At first I thought it was nothing but I came back last night." "So that's why you weren't in the mood" I say sarcastic.

"Anyways, I woke up in the middle of the night because it got worse. I came down to the kitchen to take some medicine but we didn't have any, so I thought a warm glass of water would help and that's when you came in." She explains. "Have you had any pain today?" I question. "No not since last night." She says. "Riley, please tell me you will see a doctor about this really soon?" I plead. She took my hands into hers. "I have a appointment with my doctor tomorrow at 9." I sigh. "Thank you." I say. "I want you to get better." "I know you do but I don't want you to worry." "It's my job to worry about you." I state. She smiles and kisses my cheek. "I love you so much." She says. "I love you too" "I better check on Lacey." She says and leaves the room.

End of flashback

And that's how I don't understand women. I make my way downstairs where Riley and Lacey are. I see them on the couch and Lacey is playing with Riley's necklace I got her in Sydney. 

I check out the fridge for a snack but we have nothing to eat again. I guess we ate it all with Giselle and Theo. I grab the grocery list Riley makes every week and added some stuff to it. I grab my keys and wallet and head for the door.

While I was at the store, I see Michelle in the freezer section. "Yo Michelle!" I say. She looked up and realized I was the one who called her name. She smiled and motioned for me to go over to her.

I stroll over to her with my cart full of food. "Hey James!" She says giving me a hug. "Hey" I say casually. "Riley wanted to thank you and Eldon. We could not have won internationals without you." "That's so sweet, We loved being a part of it." "So what's all the ice cream for?" I ask pointing to her cart. She laughs. "It's for Eldon." She says. This time I laugh. "What does he need Cookie dough, Chocolate, Coconut and Coffee ice cream for?"

"His birthday is tonight so I thought I would surprise him with a ice cream sundae." She says. "Oh I totally forgot! I should call him." I say. "Or better yet, you should wish him it in person. You and Riley should come over." She suggests. "Sure, I will talk to her. If we do come what time will work?" I ask. "I don't care. Just show up." Michelle tells me. "Ok see ya later." I say walking away.

Riley's POV

Lacey is taking a nap and I am cleaning up the house. I don't know where James went but he should be back soon because it's almost supper time. I was putting the vacuum away in the hall closet when I heard the door open.

James came in with a lot of groceries. "You know I was going shopping tomorrow?" I ask smiling. "Yea but I thought I would help you out." He says grinning. "Do you know that your an amazing husband?" I say playfully. "Really, Are you sure? Isn't it the neighbor's husband that's amazing?"

"Nope he's all mine." I say as he pulls me into a hug and kisses me. "And you are all mine." He says.

"What would you like for dinner?" I ask. "Ice cream." I get out of his grip and check in the freezer. "Sorry, we don't have any." He laughs. "What's so funny?" I ask laughing myself. "I saw Michelle at the store and she invited us over for Eldon's birthday." "Oh ok when does she want us to come?" "Whenever, but let's finish with the groceries." He says. "Good idea."

We finish putting away the food and I get ready to go over to Michelle's house. I wake up Lacey, change her and clip her into the car seat.

We arrive at Michelle's  house and I get Lacey out of her car seat. It is a little chilly so I dressed her warm. She smiles and rests her head on my shoulder. Lacey is such a sweet baby. She has her moms genes that's for sure.

James knocks on the door. "Come in!" A female voice tells us. He opens the door and I see Michelle in the living room rubbing her feet. "Hey Michelle, How are you?" I ask. "I'm great except for my swollen ankles." She says. "Wait is that Lacey? Why do you have Lacey? Am I missing something? Is Giselle and Theo alright?!" She asks panicking.

"No, no they fine. Giselle asked us to watch Lacey for a few days while their in New York." James reassures her. "Oh thank goodness."

"Where's Eldon?" I ask. "He's not here yet." She tells me. "Can I hold Lacey?"
"Sure" I say handing Lacey to her. "Gosh she looks so much like Giselle." Michelle comments. "Yea she does, Can I do anything?" I ask. "Like what?" "Get the dishes out for ice cream or make hot fudge?" I ask. "Would you? My feet have been bothering me all day."  I smile and leave Michelle, James and Lacey on the couch and enter the kitchen.

James' POV

After Riley left Michelle quietly asks "How is she?" "Um Good and Bad." I answer. She just nods her head in understanding. "How is she doing with Lacey?" "Great actually. Lacey loves her and she loves Lacey." I tell her. "That's good."  "Yea it is." Michelle and I talked for a little while longer until Eldon came home. He looked surprised to see us. We wished him a happy birthday and gave him his Ice cream.

We got home late due to traffic and a detour. Riley quickly puts Lacey to bed and then came up to get ready herself. I patiently waited for her. She finally came to bed and I pulled her close to me. "Can I turn the light off first?" She giggles. "Ugh fine." She gets up and turns the light off and the room goes dark. The light of the moon and sky are shining in through the windows. When she returns I quickly resume my work......

Riley's POV

I wake up late because you could say James and I got distracted... I am rushing to get to my doctors appointment. James is in charge of Lacey and I am a little worried. He says he can handle it and keeps reassuring me. "James I'm leaving now!" I yell. "Ok, have fun!" "It's a doctors appointment." I say giving him a look.
"I was just kidding." He says with his hands above his head. I grab my purse along with the keys and head out.

I am sitting in the waiting room at the doctors office. I look up from my boring magazine. There are some mothers with newborns and pregnant mothers as well. I kinda wish James was here right now. "Riley Tordjman?" I look up and see a friendly nurse with her clipboard. I get up and follow her toward a room. It was very basic. Everything you would expect from a exam room. She took my vitals and did the basic checkup. Then she handed me a robe to put on and said "the doctor
Should be right with you." And left. I knew when nurses said 'should be right with you' your going to wait a long time. I am no stranger to the doctors office. I think everyone knows me here.

I come here quite often and I'm starting to get sick of it. I sit on the exam table and look at my phone.

I hear a knock on the door. "Mrs. Tordjman?" A female voice ask. "Come in" She enters and I immediately recognized her. "Hi Bree!" I say giving her a hug. "I thought I recognized your name!" She says. Bree is Richelle's mother. "So, how have you been? By the looks of these notes, not so well." She says. I shyly laugh at her comment.

"How long have you been having pain in your abdomen?" I explained all of the times and the ones recently. "Alright it's normal to have pain after a miscarriage, but just in case lets keep an eye on it. I am giving you some medication that will help. Now do
you have any questions?" Bree asks.
"Will it happen again?" "It depends sweetie, but don't have fear for getting pregnant again." "Thanks Bree, I will see you later." She smiles and exits. I change back into my clothes and leave.

I come home and see Lacey resting on James chest while James is focus is on the tv. "Hey, I'm home" I say. James looks up. "Oh Hey, how'd it go?" "Eh ok I guess." I say. "What does Eh ok mean?" He asks. "She just gave me some medication and told me that it was normal." I reply. "Oh ok, well I'm glad your fine." "I told you I was." He laughs. "Yea ok."  I leave him and Lacey and start on lunch.
