Part 15: The threat and the dream

((I'm here once more! Can't promise I'm sticking to a schedule but I'll try and update every once in a while.))

~Two months later~

The Gems had been preparing for the homeworld gems coming to earth. They knew it would happen since they released Lapis from the mirror.

Purple Fluorite was keeping Steven distracted from everything while the gems tried to prepare for the arrival of the homeworld gems.

She had just gotten Steven in bed and asleep. She went to the temple door and opened it to Pearls room. She managed to figure out how to manipulate the door before they found out that the homeworld gems were coming.

She went into the room and sat down on the floor as the door closed behind her. She tried to meditate but she was too stressed to focus. She sighed and then jumped when the door opened. Purple Fluorite quickly whipped around, facing the door, only to see Pearl walking in.

Pearl was a little startled by Purple Fluorite's reaction and looked worried.

"Are you okay Purple Fluorite? You've been so jumpy these past couple of days." Pearl asked, walking closer to Purple Fluorite and wrapping her arms around her.

Purple Fluorite sighed in response and hugged Pearl back. "I'm fine... Just a little stressed. I'm worried about what's gonna happen when..." She trailed off, looking away to hide the fear in her eyes.

"Hey." Pearl said, reaching a hand up to Purple Fluorite's face, making her look at her. "Everything will be okay. I promise. I know you're worried about Steven bu-"

"I'm not just worried about Steven!" Purple Fluorite interrupted, pulling away. "I'm hate to make it about me... but what about me?! I was supposed to be shattered! I'm not supposed to exist! If the homeworld gems see me, I'm sure they aren't going to be excited!" She exclaimed, falling to the ground. "...They'll shatter me..." She muttered, tears rolling down her cheeks.

Purple Fluorite had been keeping this in for so long because she didn't want to scare anybody or make them worry about her, but now she couldn't hold it in. Everything she held in was overflowing. Flowing out of her eyes in the form of tears. She just sat there and cried.

Pearl walked over to her and held her close. Pearl wasn't sure what to say or do to ease her nerves. She could only think of one thing

"I won't let them touch you... they will have to get through me before they could reach you." Pearl said, lifting Purple Fluorite's chin. "I would have to be shattered before you could get hurt." Pearl then slammed her lips against Purple Fluorite's, kissing her deeply.

Purple Fluorite was surprised by Pearls bold action but quickly melted into the kiss. Her eyes still were dripping tears, but she knew she would be safe.

They kissed for a couple moments before pulling apart, panting a little. They looked into each others eyes and smiled.

They then went to the bed they had put into the room and laid down, holding each other. Pearl didn't sleep but Purple Fluorite did. Pearl enjoyed watching her sleep and kept her from watching Steven.

Purple Fluorite got comfortable and then closed her eyes, falling into a deep sleep.

~~~~~~~~In her dream~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The homeworld gems had arrived. The ship landed and they came out. They were huge and strong. They easily defeated Garnet and Amethyst. Pearl was in front of them, badly damaged and using her spear to keep herself up. Purple Fluorite was behind them, watching the battle, scared.

The Gems quickly closed in on Pearl, proofing her so hard that the gem cracked. Two of the gems walked over to Purple Fluorite and held her in place, smiling wickedly.

The other gem picked up the cracked pearl and also smiled.

"So this was your little girlfriend? She was so weak and puny that she was barely a warm up! A gem that weak doesn't deserve to live." The Gem said, her smile growing. "Now your lucky little Fluorite. You get a front row seat to see me shatter this gem! Get ready!" The gem said, holding the Pearl between her hands.

Purple Fluorite started to struggle against the two gems, hot tears streaming from her eyes. She was screaming, trying so hard to get away and save the cracked gem. Her chest was hurting she was trying so hard. She then dropped to her knees as she watched shards fly around her, feeling like a piece of herself had been ripped clean off. She just stared at the shards till she noticed the homeworld gems feet in front of her. She looked up, tears still streaming from her eyes.

"Look at how pathetic you are. Can't even save the ones you love. It's all your fault they're dead. And now we will destroy you, Purple Fluorite." The gem said, but not moving. "Purple Fluorite. Purple Fluorite. Purple Fluorite." The gem repeated, her voice sounding farther and father away.

Pearl was shaking Purple Fluorite, trying to wake her up. Repeating her name to make her wake up.

Purple Fluorite was moving around, crying in her sleep till her eyes opened. She stopped moving once she realized she was awake and kept crying.

Pearl hugged her close and tried to comfort her, but she couldn't make Purple Fluorite unsee what she had dreamed.
