Prince Alec Leonidas P.O.V

I felt a poke on my shoulder, I open my eyes to see Anita, a maid kneeling down beside my bed, her eyes were red.

"What are you doing in my room?" I whisper to her in shock, looking beside me to see Aria still asleep.

"Prince Alec I am so so sorry but I don't know what to do, I can't find the maid I share a room with Gabriella?" She asked, my eyes widen in confusion.

"You woke me up because you can't find another maid" I stare at her intensely until she looks down at the carpet

"All I know is that she didn't sleep in our room last night and when I asked Prince George where she was he said he hadn't seen her since yesterday afternoon"

"That's the last time I saw her too" I state, starting to get worried "I will look into it later, lady Gabriella can take care of herself I'm sure."

Anita nodded, and slowly walking out of my room. I lay back in bed confused. I kissed Aria on her forehead and she woke up.

"Sorry love, I didn't mean to disturb  you"

She smiled softly at me, her eyes still closed and snuggled closer. I put my arm around her body and held her tightly.

"Give me a kiss before I leave" I say, rubbing her back gently.

Her eyes shot open and she frowned "Its a little to early for you to be out of bed isn't it?"

"Truthfully, one of our maids went missing and obviously people assume that I will be the hero." I mumble to her

Aria sat up, using the duvet to hide her naked body as she places a small peck on my lips, I stand up putting on my shirt and jeans. My finance's gives me a worry look.

"Your not supposed to dress like a common man, you're a royal for god sake" Aria spoke harshly

I let out a chuckle "You want me to wear my armour while I go and look for Gabriella?"

She stood up, the duvet still securely wrapped around her petite body. "First name basis with a maid are we now, Alec I don't like her."

"She's just a maid"

"You obviously have some feeling for her, you would never wake up from sleep to find a stupid poor orphan girl!" Aria shouts, her face turning red.

"I don't have feeling for her" I lied, I did have feeling for her. I just would never act on them.

"Do I need to remind you that your father and my father are allies, and if you cheat on me with a maid I will be looked down on?"

"I am not having this discussion with you" I roll my eyes, and leave the room.

I walk towards the bathroom, and fix my hair and brush my teeth, as I walk downstairs I see my brother and Aria's two brothers sitting in the kitchen while maids were cooking and cleaning.

I grabbed my brothers arm and pulled him out side of the kitchen. "Where is lady Gabriella, and what have you done?"

"She's my girlfriend, just back off" George said glaring at me

"What did you say to her George?"

He scoffed "she knows we are assassins, well technically I told her you were the second best assassin she hit me and ran away"

"You had one job, can't you keep your mouth shut"

"One of the knights said she ran into the forest, I don't think she wants to be found just let her leave" George says shaking his head, i could see a little purple bruise under his eye.

I poked my brothers eye, and he slapped my hand out of his face and let out a laugh "you got beat up by a girl, do you know how embarrassed I would be"

"Don't tell anyone" George said scratching the back of his head, we both burst into laughter not being able to control ourselves.

I was in the forest for an hour, searching calling out her name but I heard nothing. It was getting dark and I knew that without my armour or a weapon that I wouldn't be able to protect myself in here.

Just as I was about to leave I heard a little cough, I spun my horse around and used my flashlight to see into the darkness, I jumped of my horse and walked towards a body curled up she spun around and looked at me. Her face pale.

"You okay, Gabriella?"

She nodded. I walked closer, grabbing her body and lifting her up so she can stand.

"Did you sleep here?" I asked as I pulled her closer to my chest, taking in her almost-frozen  body, she was shaking like it was a matter of life or death. "Jeez, beautiful, I wouldn't be surprised if you caught hypothermia out here."

She just looked at me, unsure what to say.

"You're roommate is worried sick about you, so was my brother."

"Alec."

"Yeah?"

"I don't trust you" she said her teeth gritting together, she pushed me off her and sat back on the ground

I frowned and sat down next to her on a pile of leaves ."You don't trust me huh?" I questioned.

"George told me you are an assassin," she clarified. "The first family that took me in after my parents left got murdered by two assassins."

"And you just assume we are the only two assassins?" I asked, slightly horrified. She shrugged, it was close enough to the truth. For all I know I could of killed them.

"Look, Prince Alec," Gabriella softly spoke "They were the closest thing I had to a family and one of you brothers slaughtered them."

"I didn't do it, I promise you I would never hurt a family" I lied, I felt like lying had seriously felt so much easier, then the truth.

"I punched the royal prince" she spoke softly "I can't believe I did that."

"You can apologies to him when we get back but I can't leave you out here, you'll freeze to death! I don't care if you kick and scream I'm taking you back home."

"You don't have to -" she began.

"I know," I said, standing up and holding my hand out, smiling down at her. "Just let me."
