Pregnant!?! (The Last Of Us Fanfic)

Happy birthday!

Joel p.o.v.

"Ellie, come on...it doesn't usually take you this long," I say aloud while looking out the window.
She should be home by now

I hear the back door swing open, with feet stomping the ground probably to get snow off. The door slams shut and I hear Ellie sigh. She must not have gotten anything.

"Ellie?" I say outloud.

"Yeah it's me Joel. Sorry I was late, didn't have much luck today. Only a bunny," she says hesitantly. I furrow my eyebrows but decide to drop it.

I look over my shoulder and she's standing a couple feet away from me. I see blood spatter on her face and the bunny tied around her belt.

"Baby girl...what happened?" I ask moving quickly towards her. She looks down and shuffles her feet a little bit.

I reach for her chin and lift it up. Her face tells me she's fine, but her eyes show that she's frightened. I pull her into a hug, trying to comfort her and let her know she's okay. She tightly hugs me back, reminding me of my Sarah when she was scared one night.

"Joel...there was people in the forest," she says muffled.

"What? Like infected people?"

"No." She says into my chest. "Like normal people kinda like us. There was 2 men and they had a trap out to catch game and my bunny stumbled into it. I tried to release the bunny but I cut my fingers in the process. I screamed out cause it hurt and they heard me. I tried to hide up a tree but one of the men found me and I stabbed him and cut him. The other man tried to fight me but I did that trick you taught me with the gun and I killed him. He had a family Joel...the other man did too but I let him go. He let me keep the bunny. I really wish you were there...I was afraid and I-"

"Shh...Ellie it's okay. What matters is that you're alive. I'm sorry that I wasn't there to protect you," I say into her ear. She takes a deep breath.

"Joel."

I don't hear her continue so I hug her just a little tighter. After what seems like hours, she finally pulls away from me and she looks relieved. I smile,

"You wanna go look in your bedroom?  I have some presents there for you since it's your birthday,"

She smiles and her eyes show excitement. She drops her backpack and the bunny, running off to her room. I bend down and pick up her bag and the bunny, setting them on the coffee table.

"Joel this is amazing! Thank you so much!" I hear Ellie yell through the house. I hear footsteps running and I get pounded with a hug from the back.

I chuckle a little and turn around to hug her again. She says thank you and thank you over and over again. I smile while she's going on and on about how much she loves the presents.

"Okay Ellie, how about you go clean yourself up and I'll take care of breakfast, okay?" I ask her once I get her attention.

She nods and runs off to the bathroom, closing the door behind her. That girl is something, literally. I smile at the thought and grab her bunny, walking to the kitchen.

"Ellie, will you come in here please? "
I call out into the house. 

I have a guitar in hand and I'm tuning the strings. Ellie walks in with her pajamas on and her hair is up in a bun, she looks a little annoyed.

"What is it Joel? I was in the middle of reading a good book! This better be important..." she says with a bit of attitude. Her eyes are on the guitar.
