Sledding?

Ellie's POV

"What do you mean sledding? I've never heard of it!" I say to Joel as we're looking through the garage of the house we're staying in for now.

"You know, sledding, you have a sled and you can use that sled to slide down a hill! It's so much fun and I was never able to have Sarah try since we lived in Texas. We can now because there's snow!" Joel exclaims excitedly to me. "But we just have to find a sled first and I'm pretty sure I saw one in here when I was looking for parts,"

This garage has 1 car in it but it could fit two, so the other one is...where? Maybe the people who were here before took it and never came back. I'm not sure. The car here is a jeep and Joel thinks he can fix it cause the starter is messed up but we have to find another jeep or something to fix the starter. Joel told me the military trucks could probably have some but it's too risky to find one, so we just have to wait.

"Ha! I found one! " I hear Joel through my thoughts.

"Found what?"

"A sled! Ellie you have to try sledding or you'll be missing out on life!" He says. I laugh and walk over to where he is.

"Joel, just cause it's been snowing for the past week doesn't mean we should go out in it! I haven't been lucky hunting since the bunny and I don't want to scare off anything that we could use to hunt!" I playfully push my words towards him. He laughs.

"Come on Ellie, we've got to try it. I've never tried it so it'll be a first for both of us," he pleads.

I'm about to decline and tell him I'd rather stay inside where it's warm and stay by the fire but I see hurt in his eyes, desperation as well. He wants to play with me cause he never was able to play with Sarah like this. She never made it to being a teenager. I argue with myself for a little bit before I decide.

"Fine Joel, we can go but we can not stay out long," I say. Before I can finish my thought, Joel buts in.

"Thank you Ellie! Let's go!" He grabs the sled and runs back into the house. He's acting like a little child which is funny to see since he's an adult. I laugh to myself and follow him into the house.

"Okay Ellie, would you like me to go first? " Joel asks me.

I'm standing behind Joel at the top of a hill that is near the house we're at. The trees parted perfectly so there's a clearing where we could go down safely without running into a tree. Unless the sled just decided to go whoo! and turn into the trees.

Joel is bundled up wearing a huge coat and overalls, along with boots, gloves, and a hat. I also have on a huge coat and snowpants that we found in the bedroom I sleep in, also along with boots, gloves, scarf, and earmuffs.

"Joel, I feel ridiculous," I say to him, not answering his question.

"Why? These clothes will keep you warm and dry even if they're a little big for you. You can take them off once we get home," he says to me.

I cross my arms and sigh...whatever you say.

Joel laughs at me and lightly punches my arm,

"Come on, you or me first?"

"Can we both fit on it? I don't want to go alone..." I say before I think about what I wanted to say.

Joel smiles and looks at the ground,

"Alright baby girl, I'll get on first then you-"

"I got it Joel, I get on after you then you'll push off,"
