Once I had plugged in the wii and apricot had selected a game we were ready to play "what game did you pick?" I asked her, turning on the wii at the plug "mario kart" shit, she's really good at mario kart, she'll absolutely pummel me.

"No fair! You'll wreck me!" I complained in a whiny tone, I sounded like an upset 6 year old. "Stop being so immature, just try your best!" I reluctantly grabbed my wii remote from a little whicker box by the tv and so did apricot, I tried to prepare myself for my imminent defeat. "Let's do this ish".

Once we had selected our characters, karts and all that jazzy stuff it was finally time to race, apricot had let me chose the track as she knew she was going to win whatever track we played so I chose mushroom gorge as I had played it a lot and knew pretty much every nook and cranny. "Pfft, noob" I glared at apricot and felt a competitive spark light up within me, I'm gonna with this game, even if it's the last thing I do.

"Bring it, biatch".

We started the race and apricot got off to a bad start, she started her engine up too early and her kart exploded, giving me a massive head start. "Shit shit shit!" She exclaimed as I laughed triumphantly at her bad luck, this was a good chance for me to get ahead. I swerved around the corner of the track to be treated by a row of floating item boxes in front of a long bridge, that lead to a row of bouncy mushrooms. I turned my remote sharply and managed to knock into an item box, I got the golden mushroom. "Haha!" I started to spam the 'A' button and by the time I had reached the row of bouncy mushrooms apricot had only just started to cross the bridge.

"God damn you Lester!" I chuckled at her anger and at her use of the word Lester instead of Phil. "Don't have a go at me just cause you're loosing to a 'noob'" out of the corner of my eye I could see her give me the middle finger and I just laughed again, I loved winning video games. I stared to enter a cave system and apricot was starting to catch me up "I'm gonna get you!" She pulled her car up next to mine and started to bash me in an attempt to knock me off the track "try me mate!" I knocked her back and got some reason the game must've glitched as I completely knocked her off the track. "Son of a bitch!".

She dropped her remote on the ground, returned to the sofa and angrily with her arms crossed like a moody toddler. "Oh come on apricot, don't be like that" I whined, the one time I actually started winning at Mario kart my opponent backs out. "I'm not in the mood Phil" she leaned back, looked out the window and then I remembered about Chris going missing.

I sat down next to apricot and left the wii on and I watched our characters keep falling off the track. "I told you not to worry about Chris" I turned my attention back to apricot and saw how impatient she looked "you saying that just makes me worry even more" she kept staring out the window and I felt a little helpless, I don't have a clue how to cheer her up. I would call Dan to see how his search is going but I don't wanna stress him out anymore than he probably already is, this whole situation is just one big ball of stress, fear, angst and discomfort.

"Where could he be?" She mumbled, swinging her feet slightly. I wish I could answer her. "I don't know, no one does" she just looked down at her thighs and then a long period of silence followed. It was so quiet I couldn't even hear the cars driving by outside even though you can usually hear them darting past every couple of minutes. "How about we watch a movie? Will that cheer you up?" She contemplated it for a while before shrugging and looking at me with a pained expression "I guess so" I smiled at her gratefully. I know it's not easy or fun to have something like this happen to you but the most you can do is try and enjoy yourself and not worry about it too much. Because worrying doesn't help anyone.
