Madison's POV
I can't handle this anymore...

What's happening to me?...

Why am I like this?

Lydia's POV
As I open the bathroom door, I hear uncontrollable breathing, sniffs, crying.

"Madison?" I call. "Madison, please" I gently knock on the cubicle door.

"Open up". No answer.

I rest my head against the door. "Please" I whisper.

Suddenly, I hear the door unlock.

As it opens, there sits Madison...she's having a panic attack.

Mascara is running down her delicate face, she's shaking life a leaf, irregular breathing...I hate seeing my best friend like this.

"Oh Madison" I say sympathetically and squeeze her into the tightest hug I've ever given.

We sit down and I let her quietly sob into my shoulder until she has calmed down and is ready to talk.

"What has happened to me?" She whispers.

"What do you mean, Maddie? Panic attacks are normal" I try to reassure her.

"I-I know. B-but that was not normal. I've never had one that bad before" I still feel her shaking.

"It's okay. Some days are worse than others, that goes the same for panic attacks" she deeply sighs.

"Why has this happened now?" She shakily asks.

"Maybe...maybe it's Chandler. This has all happened after that kiss. You need to tell him eventually Maddie but maybe stay away from him...until your anxiety dies down a bit"

"O-okay" she agrees.

I grab her shoulders and gently push her off me, so she is now looking at me.

"Listen...when I next see him. I'll tell him to give you some time. Tell me if he approaches you and triggers your anxiety. I'll make sure he doesn't talk to you until you're ready. Is that okay?" I ask.

She slowly nods.

"Do you want to tell the nurse?...oor maybe the head, about your anxiety?

"I-I don't know" she says nervously.

"Maddie. They'll be able to help you and I'll come with you. Y'know for moral support" I see her mouth form into a slight smile as she nods.

"Okay, come on. I'll take you to the nurses office. You don't have to say anything" I say as I help her stumble to her feet.

*Skip to arriving at the nurses office

"Afternoon girls. How can I help you? The nurse says sweetly.

"Maddie had a massive panic attack about 10 minutes ago. She's calm now but I thought it would be a good idea to come to you" I explain.

"Thank you, Lydia. You did the right thing" she glances at a vulnerable Maddie.

"Madison Blake is it?" She nods.

"Well...if it's not too hard, could you please explain to me what you experienced" she asks her.

"Well...I...urm" she starts and looks at me. I nod and decide to carry on for her.

"She ran off to the bathroom and I chased after her. Once I got there she was in the cubicle. Once I finally got her to open up. She was stood there...she was, uh....she was shaking... uncontrollably, heavy or irregular breathing, crying. It...it was horrible seeing my best friend like that" I look down.

"It's not your fault, Lydia. You're a good best friend. Thank you for explaining it to me. Do you know what triggered the panic attack?

"Urm...well. I think it might have been Chandler" I hesitate.

"Chandler...Is that Chandler Riggs?" She asks and I nod.

"Okay. What happened?" She asks.

"Well...uh" I start and look over to Maddie and she nods giving me permission to explain.

"Okay. Well...before Maddie ran off, she was explaining to me something that happened on Friday" I begin to explain.

"Friday...I saw Chandler...and Madison on Friday. He had a panic attack, didn't he?" Me and Madison both nod.

"Well...Chandler didn't tell Madison that he had actually had panic attacks before. She wasn't happy about this as she had poured her heart out to him when she had a panic attack in from of him earlier on in the week. She kind of flipped that he didn't tell her and she walked out into the rain, then Chandler came running after her and kissed her" I explain.

"Okay. What's wrong with him kissing her?" She asks.

"Well...after it happened she ran away because...cause, well the thing is... she doesn't do well in relationships. She finds it extremely hard to open up to people...but Chandler doesn't know this" I reply.

"Oh right. That's fair enough. Please continue" she urges.

"Well...earlier on. Madison explained all this to me and then Chandler came around the corner and was asking questions like "what does she mean you know what I'm like" and he was begging me for answers and wanted to see her. I told him to leave, your just calling her more stress and that's when Maddie ran"

"Okay, right. Thank you for explaining that to me Lydia" she looks over to Maddie.

"Madison, I advise you to stay away from Chandler until you're ready to talk to him" she tells her.

"Th-that's what Lydia told me too" she says nervously.

"Well...you have a very wise best friend" this causes me to smile.

We get up and get ready to leave.

"Oh and Lydia. Is there anything else you want to tell me or ask me?"

"Um...well, Maddie's teachers don't know she suffers from anxiety. Could you tell them, that would be helpful. She's very vulnerable right now and I don't think it would be a could idea to answer questions in front of the class etc." I say and she smiles and nods. "

"Of course I will, Lydia".

We get outside the nurses office and instantly, Maddie embraces me into a tight hug.

"Thank you, Lydia" she whispers.

I breath a sigh of relief. "My pleasure"
