I yawned, an enormous yawn that felt like my jaw was splitting. My stomach made a grumbling noise that sounded like a narwhale or something. I opened my eyes to the blinding light of the sun streaming in through my blinds. I groaned and rolled over, dragging my pillow over my head. Suddenly I remembered Jack. I sat bolt upright in bed, scattering cushions across the room, and grabbed my phone off the table beside me. I turned it on, and grinned, quickly scanning the message, before squeaking and clutching the phone to my chest.

Jack: Hey nerd, wanna catch up this morning over some coffee? Maybe you could come around to my place afterwards and we can do a gameplay collab? What do you reckon gorgeous? ;)

I took a moment to calm down. He is just a friend. A miracle friend, don't get too excited Ripley. I shook my head and quickly sent back a text.

Me: Sure Jackie boy, sounds great! Where should I meet you? ;)

Two minutes later, I got a reply that made me grin like an idiot again.

Jack: How about that cafe we first met in? That can be our place. We can meet there anytime we want :)

Me: Sounds perfect! I'll meet you there in 5! :)

I let out an enormous happy sigh and rushed to my closet, pulling things out and creating a huge mess on my floor and my bed. Finally I found some black ripped jeans, a pretty lacy black top and a pair of dark grey platform boots. I grabbed my phone from the charger and my keys, before racing outside towards the cafe.

It was still early when I got there, only a few people there, grabbing coffees before work. I quickly paid for a large mocha, and found myself bumping straight into Jack's chest, as he snuck up behind me.
"Aah! Jack! I'm so sorry!" I fumbled, not really wanting to move away from his warm embrace as he wrapped his arms around me to steady me. He smiled gently.
"It's okay," he said in his thick accent. "I was the one sneaking around!"
He kept his arm around my shoulder as he ordered his own coffee, then steered me towards the same table as last time, right next to the window that was covered in frost. Jack gallantly pulled my seat out for me, making me blush and grin. He laughed at my reaction and took the seat opposite me. A girl came to bring us our coffees and we began chatting.
"So Ripley," Jack began.
"Yeeeeesss Jack?" I asked cheekily. Jack smirked.
"What game do ya want to play for our gameplay?"
I sat forward in my seat, resting my chin in my palm and half closing my eyes as I thought.
"Hmm... definitely a horror one!" I said. Jack thought as well, biting his lip in thought adorably. Wait, what?
"Well there is a game that we can do called 'Escape' that sounds pretty darn creepy," he suggested, breaking me out of my thoughts. I blinked and focused back onto Jack's face. Damn it. Bad idea. His bright blue eyes seemed to act like a magnet, not allowing me to look anywhere else. I was aware that I was staring, but I couldn't snap out of it. He is gorgeous.
"Uh, Ripley?"
I blinked rapidly and shook me head.
"W-what?" I asked, disorientated. Please don't tell me I was saying that out loud! Jack giggled.
"You spaced out there for a minute," he laughed.
"Oh, sorry, what were you saying?" I asked quickly. Jack shook his head in amusement.
"The game? Escape? Ring any bells?"
I giggled nervously.
"Ha ha, oh, right, yeah that sounds awesome! Let's do it!"

Two hours later, I was walking side by side with Jack. He had his arm wrapped loosely around my shoulders as the cold air made me shiver. I laughed as the wind blew Jack's hoodie back, revealing his bright green hair again. Jack quickly went to push his hood back up, and I raised my eyebrow. Jack smiled sheepishly.
"Not everyone is as casual as you," he said, looking at his feet. "I got mobbed once, came out with a black eye and a few scratches."
I felt my eyes widen in shock. I couldn't believe people could be so rude and crazy. I lifted one corner of my mouth in a sympathy smile. Jack ruffled my hair affectionately.
"Don't stress, it's not too bad. Just gotta hide my gorgeous hair every now and then."
I laughed as we came up to the gate of a small but neat looking house. It was two story, and reminded me of a fairytale cottage. Jack noticed my open jaw and laughed.
" I know, it's nothin' fancy, but I like it," he said modestly. I turned my gaze towards him.
"It's so pretty!" I gushed in amazement. Jack lifted the corner of him mouth in a half smirk half smile, and placed his hand between my shoulder blades to steer me up the path.
I waited as he unlocked the front door, and stepped aside to let me go first.
"Why thank you kind sir," I teased. Jack giggled like an idiot and nudged me in the side with his elbow. I walked into the dark house, and gasped.
It was amazing! Stacks of CD's from every metal and rock band you could think of, game discs, an headphone and VR sets adorned multiple bookshelves. There where dorky artworks all over the walls too. And there where billions of tiny little Septic Sam's everywhere. And boxes of gifts and fanart. I stared at Jack.
"It's awesome!" I said seriously, my eyes the size of the moon.
Jack chuckled and leant on the doorframe.
"Yeah, fairy tale cottage from the outside, metal gamers paradise on the inside! So, gameplay? Or movie?" He asked. I thought for a moment.
"Gameplay first!" I shouted. Jack grinned and grabbed my hand, pulling me upstairs.
"Last one to the recording room gets the pink headphones!!!" He screamed in my ear.
I burst out laughing and chased him upstairs to record our first collab.
