I thought I saw recognition in her eyes. I held my breathe.
"Ooh, she looks just like my cousin!" She exclaimed, and I felt a sharp pain twist my heart and stomach.
"I haven't seen her though, sorry!"
I nodded bluntly and just walked away. I pushed past Ken and Felix, desperate for air. As soon as I reached the car, I couldn't hold it anymore. I crashed to the ground, feeling my skin rip. I clutched at my stomach and mouth, sobbing helplessly. I felt Felix and Ken drop beside me, and arms wrapped around my shoulders.
"Hey, Jack, it's okay, we will find her!" Felix mumbled.
"Yeah, and Mark and the others still had a few hotels to go! She might have even flown back home, you never know!" Ken added. I couldn't even react. I couldn't hear them. My mind was blank, and all I could think of was how stupid I was. I rose mechanically and yanked the car door open, almost hitting Ken. I didn't apologise, didn't even notice. After a few seconds, Ken and Felix got into the car as well. We began to drive back to Mark's house.

Mark's point of view

I entered the plain, neat hotel, Wade and Bob filing in behind me. We were all exhausted, having already searched more than 6 hotels. This was one of the last on the list. We weren't about to give up. I walked over to the young desk clerk, who greeted me with a broad smile.
"Hi, my name is Cathy, were you looking for a room or two?" She asked politely. I shook my head, feeling my glasses slip down my nose.
"Actually, we were wondering if you've seen our friend," I replied, showing her the photo on my phone of all of us.
"She is the one with the blue hair," I explained, zooming in on the photo. The woman's eyes blinked up at me.
"Yes, I have actually! She is staying here," she informed us. My heart stopped, and I noticed Wade and Bob share a disbelieving glance.
We had found her?
I smiled gratefully at the young woman.
"Thank you, we had lost her! Would you mind telling us what room she is in?"
The woman nodded.
"Sure, she is in room 28, second floor," she responded. I thanked her again, and raced Bob and Wade to the stairs. We flew up, a new adrenaline rush pumping through our bodies. I was glad I worked out so much, unlike poor Bob and Wade, who were left in my dust.
I made it to the second floor, and scanned the door numbers as I waited for the guys to catch up. Number 28 appeared in front of my eyes as the other two stepped onto the landing. I raced off again, slowing as I got to the door. I clenched my fist, and readied myself to knock, suddenly scared that Ripley wouldn't be there. I took a deep breath and knocked.

I thought I heard crying. I frowned and knocked again. That definitely sounded like Ripley. I tried twisting the doorknob, but it was locked.
"Ripley?" I called out, and heard a broken sob in response. I spun around to face Wade.
"Can you pick the lock?" I asked desperately. Wade gave me a helpless look.
"No! I wouldn't even know how to start!"
Bob coughed.
"Uh, I know how. Look out," he commanded, blocking the door for a moment. I heard a faint scraping noise, followed by a click.
I pushed in, and almost tanked the doorknob off the door in my hurry. I. burst through the door.
It was Ripley!
She was in a defenceless heap, tears soaking her cloths and the little Foxy toy she clutched to her chest. She looked so vulnerable. She widened her eyes.
"Mark?"

Ripley's point of view

"Mark?" I whispered hoarsely, my throat raw. Mark rushed inside the small hotel room, and swept me up into his arms.
"Ripley, oh god, are you okay?" He exclaimed breathlessly. I noticed Wade and Bob in the hallway, beaming at me with shocked faces. I sniffed and nodded, laughing. I was surprised to realise how much I missed them.
"I'm o-okay," I replied, my sobbing dying away. Mark sat me down on the bed with a serious expression.
"Ripley, this is about those messages, isn't it?" He asked softly. I balled my hands into fists.
"I just t-thought, that if I l-left, then people w-wouldn't hate me as badly, b-because I'm not interfering with the p-people who they want to see. I'm not in the w-way. And I wasn't bringing this whole thing onto J-Jack..."
Mark embraced me in a bear hug as I fought off the crippling tears that threatened to explode when I mentioned Jack's name. After I had my breathing under control, Mark slowly let go.
"You know, Jack has been bawling his eyes out, and refusing to stop searching for you since you left," he told me. I looked at him in shock.
"R-really?" I asked incredulously.
Mark nodded, smiling.
"That boy loves you more than anything. He was terrified, and beating himself up about this."
I looked at my hands, ashamed by the fact that I had caused so much drama and pain. Mark nudged me.
"What do you say we get you home and back to Jack," he asked. I nodded.
Mark and Wade helped collect my belongings, and Bob slowly walked me to Mark's car parked outside. We waited until Mark and Wade got in, and Mark took of down the road, heading straight to his house. Wade tapped him in the shoulder.
"Do you think we should call him?" He asked. Mark shook his head.
"Nah, just let them know we are coming back, we'll be there in about 10."
Wade nodded and started texting, and I relaxed into the seat, glad to be back with my friends and feeling safe again.
