You were stuck on a roof.
More specifically, you were stuck on a roof with a couple pounds of Christmas lights and your very attractive employer.
Ah, Christmas lights. That's how it all really started. Rewind back about two hours, and that's where the story of how you got where you were began.
It was only two days from Christmas and your employer, Mr. Ro'Meave, or as he insisted you called him, Vylad, somehow forgot completely to decorate. In all fairness, he did have a lot of pressure on him lately from having to take over his father's business and still run the estate. You surely couldn't do all of it. But you could do your job of decorating for him.
Except you were doing a terrible job at it.
"Stupid Christmas lights," You grumbled, "Stupid Tumblr for making this look easy."
You threw a couple more strands onto the side of the roof and clipped them into place. One of the strands unclipped and in your attempt to catch it, you somehow resulted in throwing in back up onto the roof to the point you couldn't reach it. Way to go you.
Letting out a groan, you hoisted yourself onto the roof. You could almost reach the light strand. Stupid four-story mansion.
And then you heard a heart-stopping sound behind you.
The sound of the latter falling.
You were screwed.
"Um, hello," You called, leaning over the roof gutter carefully, "Anyone? Help!"
When you were met with only silence, you took in a deep breath,
And screamed.
"GOOD LADY IRENE, ARE YOU OKAY?!" A voice yelled from below.
"No, she's fine," You answered calmly as you leaned back over to respond to the person on the ground, "BUT I'M NOT!"
"Hold on!" They called up.
After putting the latter back up, they began to climb and only then did you get a good look at them.
It was Vylad.
You were pretty much fired. Might as well just try your luck and jump off the roof into the pool. Or the fountain. Either way would be better at this point.
"Okay," Vylad grunted as he hoisted himself up, holding out his hand, "Y/N, take my hand and I'm going to carefully-"
He was cut off by the same sound you had heard minutes ago. He glanced behind him, and then back at you. You both had the same thoughts at that moment.
This was the end.
And that led you to where you were now. Stuck on a roof with only Christmas lights and your soon-to-be-ex-employer. You were sure you'd be laughing over this someday. As you dug through a dumpster for food because you needed this job that badly. It was paying for all your bills.
"So, how did you get stuck up here in the first place?" Vylad questioned after an awkward moment of silence.
"The same way you just did, Sir," You sighed, "I'm sorry, please don't fire m-"
"I'm not going to fire you," He gave you an odd look, "Why would I do that?"
You sat there, stunned, "Because... we're both stuck on you roof because of me?"
"I wouldn't take that as a valid reason," He chuckled, "Besides, I like you too much to do that."
You could only watch, still in your stunned stated, as he examined your situation. His mumbling to himself finally pulled you out of your state and you stood carefully. Maybe you could somehow safely get off of this roof. A few minutes later, you both turned to each other.
"I think we should use these Christmas lights as a rope and climb down," Vylad suggested.
"I agree, Sir," You nodded.
"Don't call me Sir, please," He sighed dramatically, "It makes me feel so old."
You held back giggles as you made your way to the Christmas lights. The two of you fashioned a rope and soon, you found yourself rappelling down the mansion's wall. You both reached the ground safely.
"Well, that was interesting," Vylad commented as you two made your way back inside.
"Thank you," you said genuinely, "for getting me down. And not firing me."
He glanced at you, a smirk growing on his face, "I'm still considering the latter."
"Please don't-"
"Maybe a kiss will help me make up my mind," He smirked.
You kept your job.
