"Get a life."
How terribly ironic.
All around her were lives.
In fact, there was an abundance of them.
Ever since she was a child, she could see lives.
It appeared as an aura surrounding someone, beautiful and delicate looking.
Over time, she learned the dimmer they were, the less time they had.
The brighter they were, the more time they had.
She watched as her brother, a newly born, was put in her mother's arms. She was so bright, it hardly seemed possible.
She watched as her parent's dimmed til they were barley visible, on that one fateful night they went out.
Their car skidded off the road and into a ditch. They were announced dead on the spot.
She watched all around her in school, everyone's life so bright. Expect for one.
She watched as it faded as the days went by.
Until the day he didn't come to school.
The next day, the students went to an assembly about depression and getting help.
He had committed suicide.
So she went on, watching other's lives fade. She watched as strangers passed her by in the street, their lives bright or dim.
And there was nothing she could do about it, not that she tried.
Until she met him.
The day she laid eyes on him, she knew she must try.
They were introduced at a party by a mutual friend.
The moment she saw him, she felt a connection.
A connection so strong, she knew it must be love.
But his life was dim.
He was a shameless flirt, and she rejected all advances.
She was scared to get attached, but by pushing him away, she only grew more in love.
He keep pursuing, and she would punch him if necessary.
Still, love and jealously got the best of her at the convention, and she kissed him.
Each day his light grew dimmer.
Finally, she had given up on finding a way to prevent it.
His life was so faded it was barely there.
She ran to his house and asked to see him immediately.
One of his roommates let her in and she ran to his room.
Opening the door, she found him watching an anime, completely calm and oblivious to the fact his time left was so short.
Breathless, she wanted as he looked up from his computer, looking shocked to see her.
She confessed it all, proclaiming she loved him with all her heart.
He did the same.
And just as his light was almost gone, she kissed him.
And he glowed.
When they broke away, she looked to see his life grow brighter than ever.
And he watched as her's did, too.
