21. Memories

I woke up again to someone stroking my hair. Where am I? And what's happening here?

The last thing I can remember is me waking up in a hospital, I keep my eyes shut, I don't want to overthink right now.

"Ashley? Ashley please wake up" a recognizable voice says begging, one arm wrapped around me, a chin resting on my shoulder, and the other holding my hand. I try to open my eyes, but I can't, they're too heavy, and my body is too tired.

The door opens and the person is only holding my hand now.

"Ashley Johnson?" A man says. Probably the doctor.

"She's still asleep.. I guess" Luke?

"Please tell me she'll wake up soon"

"The accident caused a brain trauma.

That leads to temporary memory loss. It will take a few weeks for her to pick up the line again, she will recover, but she won't completely. There is no big damage to the brains, but like I said, it will take a while for her to live her life like she did before."

Luke's POV

"So she won't remember me?" I ask, in tears.

"She'll be a bit confused. Don't ask her too many questions when she wakes up. Tell her slowly who you are, her memory will clear up later the day." The doctor says and leaves the room.

This is all because of me. It's always my fault. Why am I such a fuck up.

I slowly start crying and my mom tries to comfort me.

"Luke, everything'll be okay" she slowly says and looks at me with her also red and fluffy eyes.

"No mom, it's my damn fault. She has already lost her family, it was her dream to meet me, what if she wakes up, and asks me why I'm here, where her mother is, why she's lying in a hospital in Australia? Mom I can't just tell her she moved in a house at the other side of the world, after her father died in a car accident, and her mom in a plane crash? I see those eyes tearing up, every time she hears 'mom', or every time someone asks her why she got here. She's still hurt. And I can't hurt her once more by telling her everything that happened, I can't just tell her that her idol is her boyfriend" I take a brake to breathe, and look back at my mom again. Her cheeks are red and her eyes are more swollen now.

Ashley's POV

"I just can't tell her that her idol is her boyfriend" is the last thing Luke says and the room is silent.

What? The last thing I can remember is me being in Australia and crossing the road alone. I can't remember anything else. Just me, walking fast.

I am so confused, tired and lost. Luke Brooks, is sitting next to me, in a hospital in Australia, crying his eyes out.

Does he even know I'm awake? Does he know I hear everything he says? I don't feel his warm hand wrapped tightly around mine anymore. I try to open my eyes, and when I do, I see Luke walking away. Before I can call his name, he closes the door and leaves.
