One Last Fight

"Seyi! Faseyi!!" I ran to the path of my house holding my loose rapper with one hand and the bucket of water with the other.

Oh! mother must be so cross right now!

I opened the door to my house and kept the water on the floor. I adjusted my rapper and cleaned my face, walking into my mother's room. I knelt down and covered my eyes waiting for her to scold me but none came

"where were you?"

"I was at the stream Maami" I looked up at her then held her palm "I went to fetch some water" she laughed making me to smile. She looked paler and thinner than before. Mama said that she couldn't heal her and she has remained like this ever since. I got up then went to the back of the house to practise my water movements. I got to the back and the stream stared at me. I took a deep breath and focused all my energy on the water in my presence making it to rise and mirror my movements. I twirled and the water twirled around me before stopping after I kept my hands down. The place was windy as we were expecting harmattan soon since Christmas was getting near.

I hugged myself and shivered.

This was going to be a chilly Christmas. Unlike abroad Nigeria didn't have snow we just have rain, sun, and harmattan. The surrounding was getting foggy and I retreated to my bedroom to get my buba.

"what do you want Kike" my half-sister jumped in surprise before smiling at me. I returned the smile with one of my own; my fake one. Kike had always tried to get close to me but I wasn't buying it, she was just as bad as her mother and siblings. Once on the anniversary of my birth, she kept sand on my ojojo that was supposed to be eaten by me and she kept on blaming her brother, Ayo, and Teni her sister for it. Memories of my ojojo made me to give her the stink eye which she smiled sheepishly in return.
"if you have nothing to say then get out" I wore the buba and tired the rapper around my waist going to my makeshift door which was just a curtain, opening it for Kike to get out.
"okay okay wait I'm coming" she ran towards me and I smirked motioning for her to continue "so there's a party tonight more like a festival it's going to be so fun would you come?" wow a party!? I'm so in!

"I don't know I'll think about it" I dismissed her as I looked for my gown

I'm so excited!

It has been so long since I'd been to a party. The last time I went was with my sisters and well it was fun...... anyhoos let's forget them Seyi. I chose my adire gown that was tight at the bust and waist and free below. It reached my knees and the sleeves were long and puffy. I adjusted my already neat koroba and wore my shoes.

Party time here I come

I went to Kike's room and she was already dressed we said our good byes to my mom and made our way to the town square. When we got there the party was in full swing. People were chatting and dancing to the talking drums while others like me came for the food.

"Seyi I'm off to meet Wale" oh that bitch so that's why she came. I smiled at her as she ran off towards his direction. Wale was my long-time bestie and Kike had this huge crush on him although she keeps denying it, it was an open secret. I got to the fountain and sat by the water playing with it and amusing myself. I formed tiny people and pretended they were at war.

"I see your level of maturity Seyi" I dropped the tiny people and it gave a little splash into the water. I adjusted my dress and looked up to Wale's face. He was wearing a buba with shorts and had an award-winning smile on his face. I couldn't help but smile and pull him into a hug

" hey you" we separated and he pulled me along the crowd of dancing people and we got to our group of friends.
"hey Seyi"
"hey babe"

Greeting came from everyone and I smiled in acknowledgement. I sat beside Wale and he came close to my ear

"I saw Kike today" ha! Idiot "She looked pretty hot" I chuckled and he grinned
"you know she likes you Wale stop playing around with her" I punched his shoulders and he held my hands "I'm not playing with her I have a girlfriend already"

"and that is?"

"you" I laughed at him and got up to get a drink. Wale is always like that he has this beautiful feature and always play around with girls in summary he's a flirt.

I got to the stand and poured myself a drink. I took a sip and then another

Hmm this was pretty good

I went outside and sat on the floor. Night was fast approaching, the place was even colder than it was in the morning. I finished the drink and closed my eyes thinking of my sisters. The way we laughed together and always told each other everything, how we did things together, our quarrels and our moments. I sighed; I wish they were still here.

"what's a pretty girl like you sitting all alone" I looked at the person in my presence then sighed

Another damn pervert ugh seriously?!

"it's no problem" I stood up and walked towards the entrance then felt his arm on my waist pulling me back
"aww don't be like that lets play a little you know have some fun" ugh this person. I yanked my hands away from him and took hasty steps towards the entrance but he pulled me back again. I looked around and saw pots of wine lined up. Well that'll do.

I punched his face and he looked up at me

"you bitch!" I focused all my energy on the wine and thrust my arm upwards. Pots covers fell on the floor with a bang and the wine followed my movements. I used the weather to my advantage and formed a cage around him
"who sent you?" people had gathered around and I saw Wale run up to me. He tried to touch me but I shrugged his arms away from my body
"who sent you!?" sharp spears formed around his throat and he had fear in his eyes. Guards came and tried to hold me down but I pushed all of them away.
"I swear on whatever you believe in I will hurt you if you don't talk right now" the wine already melted and he was soaking wet with wine.

Okay serious mode pause, this was so hilarious!

Wale pulled me away and escorted me home. Well tried to talk to me on the way home. We got to my house and I saw Kike sitting by the front door. She met my gaze and ran towards me
"where were you Seyi? I was so worried I heard some people fought are you okay" I ignored her and faced Wale
"I'll see you tomorrow?"
"definitely" he pecked my fore head and waved me fare well before leaving.

Hmm seems that Kike went in

I got inside, saw my mother gasping, then screamed

"Maami!"
