Vanessa looked again herself in the mirror. She really wished she was appropriate dressed. She could be, if Mesut had at least give her a clue where they were going. She had come up with a million options but Mesut could always be unpredictable. She tried not to be too much, but she didn't even feel comfortable in her skinny jeans. Finally, she really wished she was looking good in a black skirt and a black top. Then it was her hair and her make up but she tried not to think about it, since she tried to be as natural as possible.
The only good part was that her brother had left a couple of hours ago, cause she was sure she couldn't bear with his comments. Her brother could be really annoying sometimes.
Vanessa checked her watch. Mesut was going to be there in any minute. She didn't want to admit it to herself but she was anxious. It was possible that after tonight Mesut wouldn't want to see her again. She wasn't that interesting as a person and she knew well enough that Mesut was.
Then it was the greeting part, what was she supposed to say to him ?
She knew that she was overreacting but she was way more anxious than she should be.
- Hi, Mesut, how are you ?
- Hi, Mesut, you look good.
- Hi, Mesut, will you finally tell me where are we going ?
She was rehearsing her lines, looking in the mirror and she would have continued but the doorbell scared her. She knew that Mesut had arrived and tried to calm her nerves. If she was acting cool, even though she wasn't, there were great chances of their date to be pleasant. Their date or whatever they called it.
She took a deep breath and opened the door. Mesut was standing there, looking good, cool, sexy.
Vanessa opened her mouth to say one of her lines but it was like her voice had betrayed her. She could only stare at him, wishing she didn't look much of a fool.
- Hi, Vanessa. You look good.
Mesut smiled at her and Vanessa was sure that for the first time since she first met him, he wasn't being sarcastic at all.
She was distracted by the way he looked -and he looked pretty good- and didn't manage ro respond to him.
- Are you okay Vanessa ?
Mesut waved a hand in front of her. Vanessa smiled.
- Sure. Let's go.
She followed him, outside her house. Her heart almost skipped a beat when he opened the car's door for her. She smiled to hide how awkward she was feeling. Mesut also entered the car and started the engine.
They didn't talk feeling both awkward. Vanessa tried not to stare at him, but knew well enough that Mesut was looking at her with the corner of his eye.
After some time and while Vanessa couldn't recognize where they were heading, she decided to ask him.
- Will you tell me now where are we going ?
Mesut chuckled.
- Not yet. You'll learn as soon as we arrive.
- How am I suppose to know that you're not going to kidnap me ?
Mesut smiled at her question.
- You don't know it.
He paused for a moment, then added:
- It wouldn't be that bad though. I'm pretty sure some more time with me wouldn't bother you at all.
Vanessa raised an eyebrow at him.
- That's what you think, cause I can tell you for sure that I wouldn't like spending more time with you, because you're annoying, arrogant, you really don't have a sense of humor and.......
- We're here.
Mesut announced interrupting her monologue. Vanessa stared outside her window. They had arrived in a restaurant. It looked expensive and glamorous and fancy and all these things Vanessa liked. Vanessa thought that being to a restaurant though, wasn't a big deal and got mad that Mesut didn't tell her.
Mesut opened her door for her and offered her his hand but Vanessa didn't bother to accept it. Mesut smirked at Vanessa's stubborness. He followed her inside the restaurant where a man welcomed them.
- Mr. Ozil your booking's upstairs.
The man said leading them.
Vanessa admired the restaurant trying not to make obvious that she was impressed. Mesut came closer to her and whispered:
- I made a private reservation. That means we'll be alone, you can tell me if you don't like it.
Vanessa nodded.
- It's fine.
She said smiling at him, forgetting that she was mad.
Mesut smiled back at her and they both followed the man. He led them to a big room, with a table only for two.
- A waitress will be there for you. I hope you'll enjoy your meal.
He said smiling at both of them, while his staring, remained at Vanessa a little longer than Mesut liked, he then excused himself, leaving the room.Vanessa was the first one to sit trying not to stare at Mesut who was smiling at her.
Almost immediately a waitress appeared to propose them a variety of drinks. She informed them about almost everything they served. Vanessa wasn't paying attention at all and if she had to guess neither was Mesut. They were staring at each other and Vanessa was pretty sure that she had turned red.
The waitress finished with her suggestions, waiting for an answer.
- What would you like to drink ?
Mesut asked her.
- I'll have whatever you take.
Vanessa replied and Mesut ordered for both of them. As the waitress left and they were all alone again, Vanessa felt once more awkward. She wasn't used to this kind of feeling.
- Do you like it here ?
Mesut asked her.
- Of course. It's wonderful.
She replied smiling.
- You're beautiful Vanessa.
She was about to respond but the waitress entered the room with their drinks. She served them while checking on Mesut. Vanessa noticed it but decided not to say anything. It wasn't her bussiness after all. When Mesut looked at the waitress, she smiled at him brightly. Vanessa rolled her eyes. Couldn't the waitress see that Mesut was accompanied ?
She was checking at her with the corner of her eye. She was beautiful, with long black hair and big blue eyes. Vanessa started to feel uneasy.
- Would you like to taste the meal we serve today ?
The waitress asked them.
- Yes, let's give it a try.
Mesut responded while understanding that Vanessa wasn't going to respond.
The waitress left, promising to come back as soon as possible.
- She was staring at you.
Vanessa confessed.
- She does it a lot. I think Amanda likes me.
- Amanda ?
- The waitress.
- How do you know her name ?
- I don't know what you think of me Vanessa but I know the names' of the girls I have slept with.
- What ?
Vanessa asked hoping that she heard wrong.
- I'm just joking Vanessa. I just come here often. You don't ?
- I didn't know that this place existed.
- You do now.
Mesut responded looking at her eyes. She had beautiful eyes. He fought the urge to touch her hand, afraid of her reaction.
Vanessa liked the way he was looking at her. She made her feel special. Nothing like the way he looked at the waitress. Vanessa liked that. Without her realizing it, a smile was formed on her lips.
- What ?
Mesut asked noticing her smile.
- Nothing. Thank you for inviting me here. You're always so friendly with me, think only that I crashed your car.
- Yes, your an awful driver.
- You're worse, which reminds me that you're annoying, arrogant.......
- I don't have a sense of humor.
- Definitely.
- Do you always talk that much ? I'm starting to think that Julian had a good reason.........
He stopped when realizing what he was about to say. Vanessa lowered her gaze. Why should he bring that topic anyway ?
- I'm sorry for that. I didn't mean it like that.
- It's okay. It's the truth after all. Julian broke our engagement to be with a receptionist and I don't care cause he deserves a girl like her, she can't offer him anything, she left him once and she'll do it again, no doubt.
- Are you drunk ?
- No. I'm okay.
Amanda entered the room to bring them their meal. She smiled at Mesut who didn't look at her, just not to displease Vanessa.
Amanda left after a while, leaving the two of them alone again.
They ate in silence, although Vanessa didn't actually ate.
- Don't you like it ?
Mesut asked her. Little did he know that Vanessa wasn't eating normally the last two months.
- I do.
- You don't eat much, do you ?
Vanessa chuckled.
- Not really.
- Why ? Is it some kind of a crazy diet ?
- No.
She said but understanding that she couldn't actually justify it she added:
- Actually yes. I need to lose some weight.
- You don't have to. You are beautiful like that.
- Thank you mr. Ozil, you compliment me all the time.
- I'm just speaking the truth.
- I.....
- Come.
Mesut stood up from his chair and offered his hand to Vanessa. She took it and let Mesut lead her to one of the elevators.
- Where are we going ?
She asked him.
- You'll see.
- Please, Mesut I had enough with the surprises today.
She complained and Mesut placed one finger in her lips.
- You talk too much Vanessa.
He scolded her while the doors' of the elevator opened. They both went inside and Mesut pressed one of the buttons, that were not in Vanessa's sight. Mesut was still holding her hand and he didn't let it until the elevator's door opened. As they walked outside of the elevator, Vanessa was confused. They were at the restaurant's rooftop. Vanessa looked at Mesut with her eyes wide open.
- What are we doing here ?
She asked him confused.
- Just admiring the stars. Aren't they beautiful ?
Mesut had definitely taken Aaron's advice. He had said that women liked romantic things like watching the stars. Mesut was pretty sure that Vanessa would like that as well.
Vanessa didn't say anything. She had found that way too romantic. She tried to remember if Julian had ever done such thing for her.
Mesut came closer to her.
- What do you think ?
He asked her again.
Vanessa turned to face him.
- It's so beautiful, Mesut thank you.
She said smiling at him.
Mesut touched her chin making her to face him as he came closer.......
