Hoshiko the Little Sneak

~CHAPTER 16~

I was throwing punches and kicks at Vegeta as I trained for the chunin exams which were a few days away. I was excited, and felt like I was ready. I was thinking about Ally he techniques I should use, and all the different fighting stiles I could use, but then Vegeta interrupted my thoughts.

"Stop daydreaming! You will mess up! What are you thinking about anyways?" Vegeta said as he stopped fighting me.

"I'm sorry Veggie, I just can't stop thinking about the chunin exams. It just seems so exciting!" I said in a cheery voice.

"What are the chunin exams?" Vegeta asked, puzzled.

"Chunin is the rank of ninja above genin, which is what I am. The chunin exams are a test for genin to determine whether they're ready to advance to chunin." I said with a huge grin on my face. "I hope to become chunin this year.

"What do you do for these exams?" Vegeta asked.

"Well we first take this ninja test... I kinda read all the ninja scrolls I could find for the past few years, just for that test! I should know just about everything on it! Then after the test, you have to get these scrolls that are hidden in a fenced area. Once you complete that, the real fun begins." I explained.

"Then, the fighting tournament begins! Genin from all around who think they are tough enough to compete will be there to fight. And this isn't no kiddy fight, the first one they can stop you if you're gonna kill, but the second fight isn't so lenient- "

"They're probably not going to pass students just for their strength Hoshiko." Vegeta said, cutting me off. "They're probably watching for smartness, speed, strategy, special features in your fighting techniques, stamina, perseverance, and much more." He added. "If I were you, I would stop training on your strength and start working on your smartness and come up with a strategy."

"Like what?" I asked a bit confused.

"I don't know, I'm not the one entering the exams. If I were you, I would study all the genin in the exams and learn their weaknesses and strengths in fighting. Once you know that, you can form strategies for each genin." Vegeta said as he kept staring at me. Just then a smug grin crossed his face. "I'm sure you will come up with some excellent strategies."

"You think?" I said, my voice skipping an octave. Vegeta nodded his head as he turned on his heels and waved a hand back. He began walking back to his house, and I then knew training was over. It was now time to form plans and study.

"I snuck into the Hokage's room while he was sorting things out with a group of ninja outside of the mansion. I looked through all the cabinets and found several papers, stack neatly and tied in bunches. I then checked in his desk and sure enough, I found the ninja cards if all the genin.

"Perfect!" I whispered as them up and examined each card in my hands. I looked and saw my card and smiled. I then found Naruto's ninja card and bursted out laughing. He had the funniest picture on his card. His face was all painted, not to mention his strange pose. I laughed out loud and quickly bit my tongue as I covered my mouth. I could hear footsteps coming to the door. I quickly gathered up all the cards and hid all the evidence that I was here.

I quickly leaped on the window sill and jumped out into the air. I fell to my feet and began running back to my house before anyone could grow suspicious. I planned on taking the ninja cards home, and writing notes on all the genin. Once I wrote the notes I would return the cards, no harm done, just a brilliant idea. I would study my notes and then write down possible strategies.

I ran home and quickly slammed the door behind me. "Hey Hoshiko, shouldn't you be training?" Haru asked as he sat at the dining table, eating a bowl of steaming hot ramen. He startled me and I hid the cards behind my back.

"Uh... I'm just taking a break from training." I wasn't exactly lying. "I'm just gonna rest in my room." I said as I crept into my room. I closed the screen to my room and closed the window screens as well. I pulled out paper and some ink as I sat down on my bed.

After hours of writing and reading, I had finally finished each card and wrote down all the notes I needed. I now knew every fighting technique about every genin in the exams this year. Just then Haru walked in my room. I quickly hid the cards under my bed and tried not to look suspicious.

"Hey Hoshiko, I've got some food ready for you if you're hungry." Haru said with a smile.

"Nah, I'ma good. I'll eat later." I said as I straightened my papers.

"Alright." Haru said as he left. Once Haru was gone, I slipped the papers under my pillow and grabbed the cards. I walked up to my window, and opened it. It was far too risky walking to the front door, so I decided to leap out of my bedroom window.

Once I was outside, I quickly ran back to the Hokage's mansion. I quickly slammed my body next to the building, as I saw the Hokage speaking with two jounin ninja just I front of the door. I tried listening in on their conversation.

"So have you two arranged everything? It's all in order?"

"Yes third, everything is perfectly in order..."

They were only talking about the arrangements of the exams. I let out a sin of relief. The third hadn't notice yet. I looked up at the window. It was the only way in. I quickly flew up to the window ledge and stepped into the room I dashed to the desk and slipped the ninja cards back where they were before. I turned around and looked back. It was clear. I leaped out of the window again, and ran home.

I was nearly out of breath when I got home. My lungs burned as air poured in them, and my muscles ached. It wasn't because I was tired, but because I was so worried of getting caught. I walked into the house, undetected and slipped in my room. I pulled the papers out from under my pillow and smiled.

It was brilliant of me to think of this. Looks like all I need to become a chunin is right here in my grasp.

Hey guys. Srry this chapt was so boring. I don't think I'm gonna write about the chunin exam am since it would take up many chapters and I don't really remember them well I the first place. The next chapp will pick up after the chunin exams. Srry if you were looking forward to the exams.
