"Where am I?" I called into the darkness. I couldn't see anything. Suddenly, I saw the shadow of a giant black wolf. I turned to run only to find I was stuck; frozen in place. "Who-Who are you?" I stuttered.
"My name is Kalani. It means 'moon child', but you can call me Connie for short. I am a part of you. There is no need to be afraid. I am your wolf." It, she, stopped about 2 feet away from me.
"My-my wolf? What do you mean?" I couldn't fully wrap my mind around the concept of a wolf talking to me. What did she mean 'she was my wolf'? Did I have a wolf for a pet? Or was I a-a werewolf? No. That's impossible.
"Yes. It is possible; And its true," she told me in that same majestic voice.
"Huh? can you read my mind or something?" I asked.
"No. It's our mind. Not yours, not mine, but ours."
"I don't understand." She took a step closer and every step she took, I felt like my bones were breaking. I started to scream in agony. I looked to my hand and black fur started to grow.
"We are one." That was the last thing she whispered before stepping inside of me. I fell to all fours and growled. I looked around and found myself in a forest. Up ahead, I saw a large brown wolf. "Go to him," I heard Connie say in my head.
I ran, but on four paws, and really fast. Faster than I can regularly run. I looked around at myself when I got to the wolf. I was covered in black fur and I had claws. CLAWS. I looked up to the brown wolf and felt that same spark that I felt with Jared back at school.
'Wait,' I thought, 'If I'm a werewolf, what if Jared is too?' I looked higher into the wolf's eyes and found that they were yellow. I looked into the puddle next to us and saw that my eyes were yellow too.
'Bow,' I heard Connie say again.
'Are you in my head?' I asked her.
'Yes. Now bow to your Alpha!'
I quickly lowered onto one paw and bowed my head.
"Rise," I heard a demanding voice echo in my head. "You have no need to bow before me. You are my mate. All must bow to you and I, but you bow to no one, Luna."
I raised my head. What did he just call me?
"Remember," he started again, "We, as do all of the rest of the wolves, have a mind link. We can talk through our minds. To shut someone out imagine walls or barriers." And just like that, he disappeared.
Next thing I know, I'm looking down at myself in my bed. My parents are smiling next to my bed and talking. I, on the other hand, was a wolf again, only in my bed. There were tears in my sheets where my claws went through. My parents kissed my furry head and left. I heard a sudden beeping sound and I started to fall. I fell right onto my bed and melted back into my old self. I heard my bones clicking.
I woke up and shut my alarm off. I looked around me and saw my torn sheets.
'No. NO!' I thought. 'I'm going crazy. It's not true.'
'Yes. It is.'
'Connie?'
'Yes.'
'Maybe if I ignore it then it'll all go away.'
'No. it won't.'
"Well I'm going to try," I spoke out loud as I got ready for school.
