I slammed my fist down on my alarm clock the next morning.

"Sabrina!" My mom called from downstairs.

"I'm up!" I yelled back. I put my hand on my forehead and stared at the ceiling. Then I remembered yesterday and my body shook with a wave of pleasure. I'm a werewolf. Me. Plain old, never-gets-her-work-done Sabrina. I am my favorite mythical creature. Then I remembered Jared. If I think about it too much, my mind hurts. Just three days ago, I was the only girl in school who didn't want to go out with him. Now I'm the only girl who can.

I jumped up and went to my closet.

'Good morning, Connie,' I thought as I pulled a baby blue T-shirt out of my closet. I rooted in my dresser right next to it and pulled out my white skinny jeans.

'Good morning to you too, Sabrina,' she replied with a yawn. Oops, I guess I woke her.

"You know you can call me Sab, right?" I said out loud as my mom came in.

"Who you talking to?" she asked, smiling.

"Connie," I said, absorbed in finding my sneakers.

"Who?"

I froze. I forgot she didn't know. I turned slowly to face her.

"Mom? We need to talk."

'What should I do?' Connie whispered.

'Shh let me think, okay?' Silence. I take that as she understood me.

"Mom, you should sit."

"What's wrong, Sab." She slowly edged onto my bed, and looked at me. I sighed and folded my hands together.

"Mom, I'm not human. I'm a werewolf." My mom looked stunned, then threw her head back and laughed. I was expecting her to do that.

"I knew that, honey." My mouth fell open. I wanted her to laugh because she thought I was kidding, not because she already knew. "Your father and I are too. Why do you think we had to come down here? Nick, who was alpha at the time, needed help. Your fathers the beta, you know." I stumbled back and almost fell on my dresser. I caught my self and stood up right. "You okay?" mom asked. I nod. Then I remembered Jared.

"Now it's my turn to shock you. Do you know who I'm mated, well, going to be mated, with?" She shook her head.

"Jared." Now it was her jaw that fell down.

"A-Alpha Jared?" She stuttered. I nod and she puts her hand to her chest. "What an honor," she whispers before fainting onto my bed.

"Mom!" I rush to her side and start to panic. "Dad!" I call. I didn't mean to make her faint, just surprise her. Dad comes running in.

"What happened?" He comes over to mom and feels her pulse. "She's fine, just unconscious." I breathe a sigh of relief. "What happened?"

"Nothing! I just told her that I shifted and I was mated to Jared." My dads jaw drops. "Oh, c'mon. It's not that big of a shocker." Actually it is.

"Yes, it is."

"Gee, thanks dad."

"No, I mean out of the 50 pack members and all the other packs out there, the universe chose my daughter. I'm so proud of you, honey."

"Me too." My mom sat up and shook her head. "Sorry I fainted on you."

"It's okay." I looked at the time. 8:00 am. "I have to go!" I ran out the door and to school.

When I got to school, Jared was waiting for me at the door.

"What happened? I felt you panic," He questioned when I got to him. Wow this bond is strong.

"Nothing. I told my mom that we were mates and she fainted. I thought I killed her." I started to laugh and a smile came over his face.

"Nice nails." He point at my blue, sparkly nails. "They match your shirt."

"Thanks."

"Hey, so school gets out in four days. What do you want to do?"

"Well, I know what I'm doing after school today."

"What's that?"

"I'm taking Connie for a walk."

'I'm not a dog!' Connie yelled at me.

'Fine.' I reply. I turn my attention to Jared again. "Lets me rephrase that considering I just got yelled at. I'll run and exercise."

"Can I join you?" He asked. He actually looks eager.

"Why not?"

"Then it's a date." He smiles as we walk into school together. I get looks from every one because I'm walking with Jared, but whatever. Who cares what people think anyway? Besides, change is good for you.
