He passed by you three times already today in the halls.

You have science next.
It's not that you're particularly interested about chemistry, but you're excited for it.
Because he's in that class.

You set down your backpack in your assigned seat and you walk over to your friend, sitting on the other side of the classroom.

"God, we weren't really lucky when it came to the random seat assignment," she groans.
"It's okay," you smile. "We can talk now."
"Do you know about that new meme called..." her words quickly quiet out of your brain as you look at the group of boys walking into the classroom.
Your eyes secretly lock onto one of them.

"Hey, are you listening?" Your friend pokes your shoulder.
"Of course I am," you laugh.
"Ah, good, because--" the bell rings. You wave to your friend and walk back to your seat, as ladylike as possible.

"It's time for homework check, so have your work out," your teacher announces. You hear a bunch of moans from around the classroom, but you simply pull out your binder.

"Did you do it?" The heavenly voice whispers to you quietly from your right.
You look right.
Shit.
You forgot.
He sits beside you now.

"Uh, yes, why?" You ask back.
"Oh, god, I was worried I would be the only one that did it," he replies back.
"Why're you worried that you did your work?" You ask curiously.

He looks around the class, making sure his friends are preoccupied on the other side of the class, before leaning closer to your ear. You try your hardest to keep yourself still and not squeal go cherry red.

"I don't want to be the teacher's pet. It looks bad," he sighs.
You give him a slightly surprised look. "Are you really that easily influenced?"
His eyes widen slightly. "What?"

"Number one, you're supposed to do your homework, and number two, you're letting society decide your life for you," you explain.
"What do you mean by that?" He asks.
"Your future is your decision. You think they'll be around to call you cool when you fail graduation?"
He goes quiet, looking at the ground. Then he looks up, determined but nervous. "It's just one homework assignment! It's not such a big deal--"
"Are you proud of yourself in general? Do you enjoy being seen with your friends?"

The rest of the class passes by in silence. You don't look at him once.
You want to kick yourself for talking to him like that, but, throughout the class, you can feel him looking at you, and you simply stare ahead determinedly.
I like you. So please don't be weak.

The last bell rings, and you rush off to your locker, greet your friends goodbye and walk out of the school to go home. You put on your earphones and walk off into the world in your imagination. You're standing straight, confident, but in your head you're constantly worrying about your conversation with him.

What if he hates me now?
Even worse, what if next class things'll be even more awkward than they were today?

You're interrupted from your thoughts by a hand on your shoulder. You turn around in surprise, and your eyes widen even more when you realize it's him.
"Can I help you?" You ask quietly.

"I... I want you to tell me more," he requests, a serious look on his face.
"About what?"
"Everything. How I should think, what I should do."
You smile. "Sure. Message me tonight."
"Hey... you know what I realized?" He looks at you, happy.
"What did you realize?"
"I'm a guy on this planet, walking through a field. What I've been looking for, is a path."
"Yes. And?"
"I found you," he finishes, pecking you on the lips. You give him a shocked look, but he just smiles and runs back toward the school. "I'll message you!"
You wave back dumbly, and walk home.

But for the first time, you truly walk confidently.
And, not to mention, there's a happy smile on your face.

I know that a lot of people who love reader inserts aren't considered things like "popular" at places like school. I get it. Most popular people are druggies and sluts, and you shouldn't look up to them.
But a lot of high school girls cut, get depressed and eventually get lost in their own worlds and drift off in the wrong path.
Please, as a fellow student, please don't go off the wrong way.
And, please, as a fellow human, help others who are suffering.
Stand up tall, be proud and make others proud as well.
Because in the end, we are all just people.

You won't regret it.
And that's a promise.
