Chapter Fifteen: Conundrum

AUTHOR'S POV   

Minutes after Laurent and Josh slowly let go of a very comforting and very much needed hug, particularly for Laurent, they continue to look into each other's eyes. Josh has extremely beautiful eyes and if ever there was a favorite feature of Laurent's when they were together before his eyes were definitely it. Not only are they gorgeous in color but there always seems to be a spark in them that Laurent can't deny even if he tried his best to. He also takes a few moments to slowly scan him up and down. Just as Josh compliments Laurent on how good he looks Laurent can't help but think the same. In the year and a half they've been apart Josh hasn't changed one bit physically. Now looking into his eyes and seeing that same soft smile he can tell that he's also the same sweet soul he was drawn to...

Josh: *smile* "Why are you looking at me like that", he asks softly. 

Laurent: *smile* "I don't know". *pause* "I guess I'm just surprised you came here to see how I'm doing".

Josh: *smile and wink* "That's what friends are for right"?

Laurent: *smile* "Yeah". 

*brief pause* 

Josh: "So are you finished working"?

Laurent: "I'm almost done. Why you ask"?

Josh: "Well I was hoping we could go to dinner and catch up". 

Dinner. That evokes an emotion in Laurent. Tonight is yet another night where Laurent is set to go home to an empty house then being left to decide what he's having for dinner...and by himself. Naturally it's something he's still not use to and he can't lie and say that he doesn't miss dinner by the hands of Larry...but he has to get used to it. It's been a rough week and now he has Josh standing in front of him with a serenity and tenderness that he just can't turn away from so...

Laurent: "I think that's a great idea. I just have to finish here and I'll meet you where ever you want". 

Josh: *smile* "Ok. Let's meet at Chez Francois in an hour". 

Laurent: *smile* "I'll be there". 

Josh keeps Laurent's eyes for another moment before Josh nods in reply then turns around to leave. Laurent stands there completely surprised that he accepted this invitation...but he also wants to and to make sure he isn't late he goes back to his desk to finish his work before taking off for dinner and a time to get reacquainted...

~meanwhile~

When Todd opens the door he's beyond surprised to see Larry on the other side of it. It was just days ago that Larry officially broke it off with him and Todd was sure that it meant he was going back to Laurent to try and work things out. To see him on his porch now is the last thing he thought he would see even as he walked over to answer the door. He isn't sure why Larry is here now but...seeing that sweet face and those warm eyes which are just two of the things Todd fell in love with he's screaming on the inside at such a sight for sore eyes. He will still try to keep his emotions in check...try...  

Todd: "Hey". 

*brief pause*

Larry: "Hey". 

Todd can see Larry take a quiet breath in as evident by the rise and fall in his chest. He can also look in those eyes and see something is plaguing him so in the softest voice...

Todd: "Something wrong"? 

Larry clears his throat as he fights back tears. He eventually asks...
