Chapter Sixteen: Run In

AUTHOR'S POV 

~several days later~

A new day brings another busy one at Bourgeois Law Firm...but the difference in this one is that Laurent's mood has vastly improved. He went from visibly distracted and struggling to focus to being on top of everything. He can't lie and say he hasn't thought about Larry and his marriage falling a part but that's also been his incentive to throw himself into work. He simply doesn't want to think about that. They may not have spoken much but Laurent made up his mind and informed Larry that he wants a divorce. Although very much against it, Larry accepts it. Now Laurent is putting his focus on work as well as someone else. Josh. Since that night of dinner and dancing they've spoken on the phone several times in addition to the night Josh came over. Laurent is still unaware that Larry saw it...but even if he did it doesn't matter. He and Josh watched a movie then ordered and ate dinner as they enjoyed conversation. Laurent takes a moment to smile at the time he's been spending with him. He can't help but gush at the fact that Josh is still the same sweet guy he's always been. Now he's thinking about their previous time as a couple. He's so engrossed in those memories that he doesn't realize Andrea is knocking on the door. Normally she would wait for Laurent to call out "come in" but he hasn't said it yet so she slowly turns the knob and pokes her head in... 

Andrea: "Laurent"? 

Laurent finally snaps out of his daydream and looks at her...

Laurent: "Yeah"?

Andrea: "Everything ok? I knocked a few times but you didn't answer".

Laurent: "Yeah I'm fine. I'm sorry. Come in". 

There's a confused look on Andrea's face because she sees a glow on his face and naturally she's wondering what's going on because of the current state of him and Larry. Nonetheless she nods softly then walks in, shut the door then over to have a seat at Laurent's desk...

Laurent: "What's up"?

Andrea: "I was just wondering if you're still going through with hiring Derrick".

Laurent doesn't even have to think about it...

Laurent: "No. The only reason I was going to do that was to help my marriage but Larry's with who he wants to be with so I don't need to hire him". 

Now of course Andrea is upset with Larry too. Nowhere near as much as Laurent obviously but she's still extremely upset. However, she knows how much Laurent has always loved Larry and as his friend she has to talk to him to see if this is really what he wants...

Andrea: "Laurent listen. I know you're hurt by what Larry did but are you sure you don't want to be with him anymore? You don't want to try and work this out at all"?

Laurent: "He cheated on me Andrea. He made it clear that he wants to be with someone else and let someone else make love to him. After everything I tried to do he did that and didn't even think for me". 

Andrea: "Laurent, I realize that and I understand how that makes you feel but...how are you so sure that Larry wants to be with him"?

Laurent: "He said it Andrea".

Andrea: "When"?

Laurent: "I heard him in that message. He said that he feels a lot for him so that means he wants to be with him". 

Andrea: "I hear what you're saying but maybe that's not what he meant". 

Laurent: "Well what did he mean Andrea"?
