Chapter Four: Unreasonable

A/N: It occurred to me that I haven't shown a pic of "Todd" so that's him above. :)  

AUTHOR'S POV 

Larry gazes at Todd as he's in somewhat of a shock that he is the person showing up to fix their heating system. It doesn't take long for him to remember the way Todd kept smiling at him at the party and to see him smiling the same way now he can't help but be perplexed as to why again. So much so that for at least twenty seconds he can't say anything. Todd will have to be the one to break the silence. Still smiling...

Todd: "Larry? Are you alright"?

Larry shakes his head slightly to get out of his trance...

Larry: "Uh, yeah. I'm oki. I'm sorry".

Todd: *smile* "It's cool". *pause* "So can I come in and fix your heat"?

Larry: "Yeah. I'll show you where it is". 

After a soft nod from Todd Larry steps to the side to let him in then shows him where the heat pump is. Todd whips out his tools to get to work and out of curiosity Larry was going to watch to see what the problem is and how it will be fixed...but his cell phone rings. When he pulls it out and looks at the screen he sees "my love" flashing across it which of course means it's Laurent...

Larry: "Excuse me Todd. I need to take this". 

Todd: "No problem". 

Larry walks quickly to he and Laurent's bedroom to answer the call...his voice low and somewhat unsure of what he will hear when he answers...

Larry: "Hey".

Laurent's voice is completely flat...

Laurent: "Hey. I just got your message. Somebody come yet"?

Larry: "Yeah the company I called is here now". 

Laurent: "Oki. Well just take some money from the safe to pay them. I don't want you to write a check and I don't want us credit card information loose". 

Larry is sure that the sharpness in Laurent's voice is the residue from their argument and is causing him to be so bossy which is usually not like him to be this way...but not wanting to add onto what they're already fighting about as they really need to talk about it still as well as this strangeness between them he simply agrees...

Larry: "Oki I will". *pause* "Um, baby? We need to talk". 

Laurent: "Larry I don't have time to talk now. I have too much work going on. I just called to see if someone was there and to tell you that". 

Larry: "So you can't stop work to talk to me? You can call and tell me what to do but you can't talk? I won't keep you long Laurent". 

Laurent: *sigh* "I said I don't have time for this. I'll see you later".  

Larry: "Laurent? Laurent"?!

Larry looks at his phone only to see that Laurent has already released the call. He can't believe Laurent hung up on him. He's never done that. Starting to feel somewhat defeated Larry blows out a sigh of frustration as he continues sitting on the bed in silence, as well as disbelief, before hearing his name being called...

Todd: "Larry"?

After calling out in a sing song type of voice, "coming", he stands up and quickly goes back to Todd to see the progress he's made on the repair...
