~Ally's POV;~
Blue orbs staring back at me. Eyes of sky blue. Damon. Air rushed into me as I gasped and shot upwards, feeling life and oxygen stir inside of my body. His familiar voice stated with concern "Ally." I met his eyes again and whispered throughout my heavy breaths "Damon?" His face finally appeared before my eyes, and a wave of relief washed over me, destroying the panic I had in seconds. It's him. He watched me closely and leaned forward, with his hand on the side of my cheek. I glanced around with disorientation, familiarising myself with my surroundings, trying to grasp reality. Damon asked urgently, his wide eyes searching my face, "How do you feel?" His words slowly processed in my mind, eventually making sense after a few moments. I glanced at him, feeling completely normal, like I had been before the sacrifice. My heart is racing normally, my head, neck and stomach are throbbing due to the wounds, but I feel normal. Human. Holding tight onto Damon's arm, feeling the leather of his jacket underneath my fingertips, I whispered weakly with surprise "I feel fine." He stared into my eyes for a moment, almost searching them for something different, like immortality, or a buried hunger, but as he exhaled with relief and continued to stare at me, I knew I was okay. Everyone exhaled in the room as I genuinely rested into the sofa, finally feeling at ease.
I'm human again.
The elixir must of merged with Damon's blood and somehow overpowered it, because I'm here, I'm breathing, and I'm human. It had to be the elixir. At the other side, my stomach was glowing, it had to be the elixir guiding me back to my body.
Damon continued to watch me, whilst I tried to come to grips with everything that's happened, it had gone by so fast. But eventually it slowly started coming together. Jules having her heart ripped out, Elena's hand dripping with blood, Stefan being knocked out, and Klaus drinking from me to the brink of death. Then the memory of the stake being driven through my dads heart finally hit me.
Dad.
I blinked repeatedly and looked down with only two words coming to mind. He's gone. I exhaled slowly and looked up again, trying to control my heavy exhausted breathing. Be strong. Keep fighting. Make him proud, make him and mom proud. Breathe Ally. I breathed in with concentration, pushing the thoughts of the sacrifice to the back of my mind, along with all the guilt and sadness. That's it, you're doing it.
As my body adjusted to working functionally again, with everything inside of me, I met the relieved eyes of everyone by the doorway. Elena, Jeremy, Jenna, Ric, and John, all here to support each other. To support me too. My friends. I'm not alone. I gave a weak smile of appreciation as I restrained the urge to reach up and feel my sore neck, knowing I'd only have my hand slapped away by someone in the room. I tried to sit up but the pain in my stomach sent me back into the cushions, as well as Damon's firm hand on my shoulder, both insisting that I stay still and conserve my strength. Elena, Jeremy and Jenna urged forward from the corner of my eye, whilst Ric and John watched with concern by the doorway. Looking away from them and down at my stomach, I noticed the burns in my shirt and instantly remembered how they got there. I had pushed against the flames at the sacrifice several times, when Stefan was hurt, when my dad was -
Avoiding the continuation of that memory, I started calmly with realisation "The fire..." Damon interceded with sympathy "You burned your stomach, but they're only minor, they're already healing. You hit your head pretty hard, but it's healing too-" I stared up into Damon's reassuring eyes and nodded apprehensively, when Elena added from over his shoulder "Your body's gone through a lot." Jenna said with protective eyes, her words more of an order, "You need some rest." I shook my head and slid my legs off of the sofa, wanting to stand and move around. The more I sit around, moping and lazy, the more I think about the sacrifice and my dad. I can't think about that. Ric stepped into the room and started with concerned eyes "I don't think that's a good-" Disregarding the disagreement of the others, I gripped tightly onto Damon's supporting arm, that hadn't moved from me, and slowly stood from the sofa, desperate to walk around again. I'm human again. I said goodbye to everything that being a human gives you, but now I'm fortunate enough to still have that, so I'm not gonna mope around and wallow in self pity. My legs trembled a little, due to the irritating light headedness that fell upon my head, turning my eyesight blurry. Damon was beside me then, one of his hands firm against the small of the back and the other holding my elbow, keeping me upright. He mumbled by my ear, teasing the light hairs against my neck, "Easy, easy." Sight returned to me clearly within seconds as I stared up at Damon again, taken aback and off guard by the closeness of him to me. Damn it Ally. He really got under your skin. You know you're vulnerable when ever he's near.
