PEYTON'S POV
Isabel and I decided to walk around the mall. I didn't have very much money, but apparently Isabel's father owns a company, so she had more than me.
"So, what your father like? As I father?" I looked at her after I said that, and she looked nervous. "Well, if you wanna talk about it."
"No, it's okay. I'll talk about it. He was really nice at first..."
FLASHBACK (ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO)
ISABEL'S POV
I waited eagerly for my dad to come home. I began to play with my toys, but still carefully listened for the door. A little while later, I heard the door creak. I ran to the door, and hugged him. He was happier than usual.
"Hey, guess what?" He asked.
"What?" I said in my five year old voice.
"Your grandpa retired, so I'm the boss of the company now!"
"Does this mean you'll be at work more often?" I asked worryingly.
"Yes, but we'll get more money."
ABOUT A YEAR LATER
"Dad?"
"I have to do work," he replied.
"Can't you just take a brake?"
"Nope."
"Why?" I asked.
"Because I have to do work, so leave this room!"
I walked out of there with my head low. I wished I had a mother. I looked at my picture with my two dads and wished that they didn't get divorced. My dad that's still here got divorced because he thought his marriage would just get in the way. He thought since he way in a same sex marriage that he would get rejected from becoming the boss of his company. I didn't even know what his job was because he wouldn't tell me. I was adopted. I loved my other dad.
PRESENT
"And when he found out that I had powers he made me help him in missions," I finished.
"Oh... Wow," Peyton said.
"What about your parents?" I questioned.
"Well..."
PEYTON'S POV
"Well, both of my parents died when I was little," I remembered. "I've been in and out of foster homes ever since then. I always ran away. I've actually avoided them for about a half a year now, I do believe."
"Oh, I'm so sorry!" She said sympathetically.
"Well, I never met them. I was told they got killed by a drunk driver."
I looked into Isabel's eyes. I've never noticed how pretty her light blue eyes were. Or the way her hair blew in the breeze. I looked away quickly and blushed. Why do I feel like this? We barely know each other, only for a few days. I began to tell jokes and she laughed. I couldn't believe that I made her laugh, and her laugh was cute. Wait, no. I have to stop acting like this. What the heck is making me feel like this? I can't like her, I'm straight! We began to walk home.
