Chapter 4

*Sofie POV*
I wake up early the next morning and go to Spencer's kitchen. I look around and see that he has practically no food in his house what so ever. I go to my car and head to the grocery store. After I get the groceries I head back and put them away. As I'm starting to make my breakfast I hear Spencer come in.
"Good morning Spence" I say
"Morning baby girl" he says
"How did you sleep" I ask
"Ok. I wasn't too uncomfortable. I just want to get this cast off" he whines
"I know I know" I say
"What time did you wake up at" he asks
"Six" I say
"Why" he asks
"I was going to make breakfast and saw you were out of food so I went shopping for you" I say
"Oh ok thanks. How much was it" he asks
"No no no. I payed for it and you aren't paying me back" I say
"Come on Sof how much was it" he asks
"I'm not telling you" I say
"Fine" he says
He pulls out his wallet grabs something out of it and puts it in my bag. I go over to it and look in and see $50 in it.
"Spencer" I yell
I'm about to slap him when the timer goes off. I pull the breakfast casserole out of the oven and set in on top of the stove. I go back over to Spencer and slap him upside the head. I then take the money and give it back to him.
"I said I don't want it" I whine
"Too bad" he says
He folds it up and sticks in the my bag again. I pull it out and stick it on his counter. I cut out pieces of the casserole and put them on plates then go to the table. Spencer prays and we start eating.
"You're taking that money" he says
"Spencer" I whine
"Nope no arguing you're taking the money and that's final" he says
"No I'm not" I say
We're about to continue but there's a knock at the door. I get up and open it.
"Hey grimms" I say
"Hey." Kelsey says
They come in and I close the door. We go to the kitchen and sit at the table.
"Do you guys want some" I ask
"Ooh sure" Caleb says
"Sure why not" Kelsey says
"I want to hold Emmett" Spencer whines
Caleb hands Emmett over to Spencer and they talk. Kelsey comes over to me.
"Why is there a $50 on the counter" she asks
"Spencer and I were having an argument. I went shopping for him and he wants to pay me back but I won't accept it and he won't take t back." I say
"I would just take the money" Kelsey says
"Yeah but it's too much and I don't want it or need it" I say
"Just take the money Sofie" Caleb says
"I don't want it" I whine
"I don't want it either" Spencer whines
"How about we just sit down and eat this breakfast" Kelsey says
We go over to the table and eat.
*Joey POV*
I wake up around 4 due to a major head ache. I quietly get up not wake Jewel who's next to me. I go to the bathroom and open the Medicine cabinet. I take some Tylenol then go check on Katy. I go in and see her just sitting in the crib. I pick her up and go downstairs. I start making a bottle and she starts crying.
"ssh I know I know you want a bottle. I'm working on it. Calm down" I coo
I finish making the bottle and start feeing her. Just as Katy finishes I hear footsteps. I look to the doorway of the kitchen and see my mom standing there.
"Hey Mom" I say
"Hey joe. What time did you wake up at"she asks
"Um 4. I had a head ache. She was just sitting in her crib" I say
"Yeah I started doing what I did with you when you were little." She says
"Did you ever do it with Donny and Kenny" I ask
"No because they never woke up early. You always liked to be up before the sun" she says
"Yeah and now I never want to wake up" I say
"Oh get over it" she says
We continue talking until my dad and Jewel are finally awake around 8:30. Jewel comes over and stands behind me wrapping her arms over my shoulders.
"Why did you wake up so early" she asks
"I had a headache" I say
She kisses my cheek and starts working on some breakfast.
"When are my brothers coming over" I ask
"Honey we're home" we hear
"Now" my dad says
"We don't want any" I shout
"We weren't offering to you. You aren't sweet enough to be honey" Kenny says
"Love you too big bro" I say
"I want to hold Katy" Donny says
"No. I already called dibs on the way over here" Kenny says
"I get to hold her. Breakfast is ready. It's on the counter" jewel says
I pass Katy off to Jewel and kiss both of their cheeks. I then go and get some food. In the process I see Donny and Kenny wrestling over something.
"Mom" I yell
"What Joseph" she asks
"Kenny and Donny are wrestling again" I say
"Kenny and Donny one of you to the living room and one upstairs to the guest room now" my mom says
"Yes mom" they say
As they walk past me they both hit the back of my head. I get my food and join my parents, girlfriend, and sister at the table. We start talking and eating and then my phone rings. I stand up and walk out front to answer it.
J-Chadwick this better be something good
S-it's Sofie. Did you not look at caller ID
J-sort of. What do you need
S-nothing I was just wondering if my sister was there.
J-yes. Why did you ask
S-her and I are having lunch together
J-ok
I hang up and go back inside.
"Don't forget your lunch with your sister" I whisper
"Oh right. Is that who called" she asks
"Yep" I say
Jewel hands Katy back over to me and then leaves.
"Donny, Kenny come in here please" my dad yells
They come in and sit down.
"Alright so we're here to tell you the real reason why we're doing Christmas in Nashville" my mom says
"So you guys remember pastor Chris" my dad asks
"Yeah" I say
"Well he asked your mom and I to accompany him and his wife in a missions trip. It's to Haiti and it'll be for two years. The thing is we don't really want to take Katy with us. Would one of you watch Katy for us" mom asks
"I think Joey should. They seem to have bonded well" Donny says
"I agree" Kenny says
"Yeah. I'll do it. Excuse me I'm gonna go for a walk" I say
I hand Katy over to my mom then go outside. I keep walking and then I feel a hand on my shoulder. I turn around and see my brothers standing there.
"What's wrong Joe" Kenny asks
"Nothing" I say
"Bro we know something is wrong why don't you just tell us" Donny says
"You know what's got me upset? I WAS PLANNING TO PROPOSE TO JEWEL AND IT WAS GOING TO BE GREAT AND NOW MOM AND DAD WONT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE WEDDING. THEY WONT HET TO SEE THEIR BABY BOY GET MARRIED I won't get my mother son dance" I say
I turn away from then and keep walking soon enough I walk back home and go inside.
"Sorry for just leaving. I had to think about some things" I say
"It's alright" dad says
"I'll watch and take care of Katy while you guys are on the trip." I say
"Ok. Thanks Joey" mom says
"No problem" I say
"When are you guys leaving" Kenny asks
"In two days." Dad says
"You're going to miss Christmas" I say
"We know. That's why we came down here two weeks early. We needed to tell you boys this" mom says
"Come on Joey. Leave Katy here with mom and dad us three are going on a bro date" Kenny says
"Oh joy" I say
"Just come on Joseph" Donny says
I follow them and we go outside to Donny's van.
"What are we doing" I ask
"You are going to propose to Jewel and have a mini wedding with mom, dad, and then the guys and the ladies before mom and dad leave then an actual wedding once you and Jewel plan it" Donny says
"Thanks guys" I smile
"No problem. I already texted Sophie and I know what restaurant they're at" Kenny says
"You do have the ring right" Donny asks
"Yeah" I say looking down
"What" Kenny asks
"I might've carried it in my pocket with me for two weeks just in case the perfect moment to ask her appeared" I say
"Hey I think that was a smart idea" Kenny says
"I agree" Donny says
We get to the restaurant and go inside. I spot their table and jewels back is toward me. Perfect.
"Good luck bro." Kenny says
"We'll watch from here" Donny says
I nod and walk towards the table. I tap Jewel on the shoulder and she turns her head to see me.
"Hey Joey what are you doing here" she asks
"Jewel we've known each other for a while now and it's been great. We started out as enemies. Then became friends. Next best friends. Now boyfriend and girlfriend. I love you and you are my world. I would really like it if we could take that next step and go to the top level. So Jewel Gabriella Hernandez Ortega will you take this ring, marry me and let us become husband and wife" I ask
She nods and hugs me. I stand up and put the ring on her finger then kiss her. The whole restaurant erupts in clapping. Then I hear my brothers talking ruining our moment.
"Hey Jewel and Sofie" Donny says
"Hello" Sofie says
"Sorry Sofie for interrupting your lunch" I say
"It's ok. I'm happy for both of you" she says
"Oh and Jewel there's something I need to tell you" I say
"Actually there's two things he needs to tell you" Kenny says
"Can't it wait" Sofie asks
"No" I say
"Um ok. Let's go outside and talk" jewel says
"Sorry again Sofie. I'm bros can you stay inside or go to the car" I ask
They nod and follow us outside. Probably to go to the car.
"What did you need to tell me" she asks
"Well my parents aren't staying for Christmas. They actually leave for a two year missions trip to Haiti in two days. So my brothers and I thought me and you would have a low key wedding before they leave and if we want a bigger one we can take time and plan it" I say
"I think a low key wedding is great. But who would walk me down the aisle" she asks
"Who ever you decide on" I say
"Ok" she says
"The other thing is that they can't take Katy with her so we all agreed that I should take care of her. So Katy is living with us for two years" I say
"Ok. That's fine. She's adorable." She says
"Will do it the day they leave. So we can plan tomorrow. We'll meet at the office tomorrow. We'll keep it a secret from my mom and dad" I say
"Ok. I'll text the guys and let them know so you don't have to worry about your parents looking over your shoulder" she says
"Ok. Thanks I love you" I say
"Love you too" she says
She goes inside and I go to the van. I get in the back and Donny starts the van.
"We're keeping this a secret from mom and dad which means I need one of you to bring them to the wedding. It's the day they leave" I say
"No problem" Kenny says
"Can we go talk to pastor Doug, Donny? I really want to see if he'll do the wedding for us and if we can have it at the church" I say
"Sure. We'll stop there then head to play bowling" Donny says
We get to mine and Donny's church then go in.
"Donald Joseph. How good to see you" We hear
"Hey pastor Doug. This is our older brother Kenny" I say
"Ah yes. I've heard much about you mostly good" the pastor says
"We have a question for you" Kenny says
"Alright. What is it" he asks
"Jewel and I are getting married and I want my parents to be there but they're going on a two year missions trip soon so we're having the wedding in two days and I was wondering if we could do it here and you do it for us" I ask
"Of course I will" he says
"Thank you so much" I say
"No problem Joey" he says
We go back to the van and Donny drives to the bowling alley. After a few games of dinner we get a call from Jewel saying that our mom wants us home because it's dinner time. We get home and go inside. As we walk on I hear cries from the living room. I walk in and see my dad trying to quite Katy down. I take her from his arms and rock her gently and she drifts off to sleep. We go to the table and I hold her as we eat. After dinner we watch a few movies then Donny and Kenny leave.
"We're gonna go up to bed" my parents say
"Ok. I'll put Katy to bed. If she doesn't fall asleep in the crib I'll probably lay her down between me and Jewel" I say
The nod and go upstairs.
"I texted the guys and they agreed. The girls and I are going shopping for dresses tomorrow. AJ, Presley, and Rowe are going to be my flower girls" jewel whispers
"Ok. Pastor Doug said he would do the wedding and we could have it at the church. The guys and I will go out for our tuxes then when we meet back we'll work on the reception together" I say
"Wait what colors are our wedding" she asks
"Mint green and Light pink" I say
"That works" she says
We clean up a bit downstairs then go up to bed. I try to lay Katy down to sleep but every single time she starts whimpering. I go to my room with her still in my arms.
"She didn't want to be in the crib" Jewel asks
"Yep" I say
She laughs and we get in bed. I set Katy down in the middle of us and I drift off to sleep.
