I knocked on Matty's door, the occasion being last minute but I knew I couldn't do it alone. Matty didn't answer immediately, so I began to hit the door rapidly.

"Okay, okay!" Matty opened the door. "What do you need?"

I sighed, "Today's the anniversary of my mum's death, I wanted to know if you would come with me to my family reunion. I fear that if you don't go then I'll break down and have a panic attack like all of the past reunions."

Matty nodded, "Sure, but I don't know what to wear."

I walked into Matty's apartment, my dress flowing with me as I grabbed Matty's hand, leading him to his closet.

I pulled out a white button up and formal pants, handing them to Matty. Matty got the hint, quickly getting dressed. Matty put a belt on his pants while I buttoned up his shirt, Matty glanced up at me once in a while.

I handed Matty some black shoes, and he quickly put them on. I removed the rubber band I brought for Matty's hair, handing it to him.

"What? What do I do with that?" Matty questioned.

"Your hair, now come on," I replied. Matty took the rubber band, pulling his hair back. Some strands of his curls didn't reach all the way to the back of his head, which I liked.

Matty stood up and looked in the mirror, "I look like a good guy," Matty chuckled. "Don't I? And you look like a nice girl that every mum would love their son to bring home."

"Haha funny," I grabbed Matty's hand, leading him outside.

I got in the driver's seat of my car, confusing Matty. "I don't think you know where my uncle is," I laughed.

We reached my uncle's house, and I turned to Matty. "This is my Uncle Ed's house, my aunt and both of my siblings live here, if I had enough money they'd live with me," I explained. "My grandmother and grandfather will be here, and so will my cousin, Lance, and my Aunt Lola."

Matty nodded, and we got out of my car. I walked over to Matty, grabbing his hand before we walked up to the porch, knocking on the door.

Matty squeezed my hand, telling me he's somewhat nervous. "Don't be nervous, my family is very inviting," I whispered.

The door opened revealing my Aunt Suzanne. "Sarilynn! How lovely to see you!" Aunt Suzanne pulled me into a hug.

"It's great to see you too, Aunt Suzanne, it's been a while, hasn't it?" I smiled.

"It has! And who might this be?" Aunt Suzanne turned to Matty.

"This is Matty, my boyfriend," I smiled at Matty, and he waved.

"Hi, I'm Matty," Matty smiled.

"Oh! Nice to meet you, Matty! I'm Suzanne!" Matty nodded in response, and we followed my aunt inside.

Once we were inside everyone erupted in cheers. "Sari!" Lance ran up to me. Lance is only six, and we've always been extremely close.

"Lance!" I hugged Lance tightly. "Have you grown? You look taller," I messed with Lance's hair.

"Yeah! I have! Mummy has been measuring my height every month!" Lance exclaimed.

"Really?" I smiled. "Lance, this is my boyfriend, Matty."

"Hi Matty!" Lance held his hand out, Matty shook it, smiling.

"Hello Lance," Matty chuckled.

"I have to go, Mummy is yelling," Lance rushed away.

Next Maverick and Genesis walked up to us. "Sari, is this Matty?" Genesis asked, and I nodded. "Hi Matty, I'm Genesis!"

"I'm Maverick," Maves waved. "Can I talk to you, 'Matty?'" Maverick taunted.

"Don't worry, he's being protective," I whispered to Matty before Maverick stole him away.

Uncle Ed greeted me, and so did Aunt Lola before Matty returned with a smile on his face.

"I'm guessing that went well?" I smiled, and Matty interlaced our hands.

"Very well," Matty chuckled. "Maverick told me to take care of you, because you seem like a wreck and I look like someone who can fix it."

I rolled my eyes. "And he said that you need to invite us over so we can hang out and get to know each other. How old is Maverick again?"

"He's thirteen," I laughed. "He's always been more mature."

"Okay! Time to eat!" Uncle Ed announced.

I kept Matty close to me as we walked through the semi-crowded kitchen. I grabbed and plate and so did Matty.

Once we sat down, everyone turned to Matty. "So, Matty, what do you do for a living?" Aunt Suzanne asked.

"Hey! I haven't even been introduced to the kid!" Grandpa yelled. "I swear, all of you ignore me."

"No we don't, Grandpa," I laughed. "This is Matty, my boyfriend. Matty this is my grandpa, Oliver."

"Nice to meet you, sir," Matty nodded.

"Nice to meet you too, kid," Grandpa chuckled. "Okay, continue Suzie."

"Thank-you, Dad," Aunt Suzanne smiled. "What is your job?"

"I am studying to be a doctor, and I'm a barista when I'm not studying," Matty lied.

"Wow!" Grandma smiled. "A smart one you got there, Sari."

I smiled, squeezing Matty's hand. "Matty, that is my grandmother of course, her name is Edna. Grandma, this is Matty."

"Lovely to meet you, Matty," Grandma smiled.

"Well, Matty, how long have you and Sari been together?" Uncle Ed questioned.

"Only about a month, but we were friends for a while," Matty nodded, lying about the second half.

"How lovely," Genesis smiled. "When are you going to get married? I want a brother-in-law."

I choked on my food, making everyone laugh. "I guess that's not anytime soon?" Genesis frowned.

"No, dear," Grandma laughed.

Matty covered his face from laughing so much, making everyone else laugh more.

Once we calmed down, I turned to Genesis. "Gen, you know how I feel about that kind of stuff. No, we're no where close to even thinking about getting engaged."

"Okay," Genesis sighed. "But Matty! When you go to pick out the ring bring me! I know Sari more than anyone else!"
