I sat in the passenger seat of my car as Matty drove to my Aunt and Uncle's house. They invited us over for dinner and I haven't seen them in a while so why not.

Matty's hand was on my thigh, rubbing it with his thumb. "I can tell what you'd rather be doing," I mumbled.

"What?" Matty smiled at me.

"Someone would rather be doing something other than going to see my family," I replied. "Your hand is gradually getting higher on my thigh."

"Does it bother you?" Matty raised an eyebrow.

"No, but it doesn't exactly turn me on," I stated.

"Would you like it to? Because I know exactly what to do," Matty smirked.

"No thank you, we are going to see my siblings who are underage," I laughed.

"Okay, afterwards?" Matty questioned.

"Matthew!" I hit his shoulder as he laughed.

We pulled into my aunt and uncle's driveway; Matty tried to run around the car to open my side door, but I had already opened it. Matty shook his head at me, grabbing my hand.

We walked up to the front door and before I could knock Genesis had opened the door. "Matty!" Genesis exclaimed. "Matty! Aunt Suzanne has to talk to you!"

"She does?" Matty smiled, a bit confused.

"Yes, she does! Now come on!" Gen grabbed Matty's empty hand, leading him to the kitchen while I stayed behind in the dining room.

"Sarilynn!" I turned to see Maverick. "Sarilynn, guess what?"

"What?"

"Guess who got their grades, and is passing every class with the best grade?" Maverick put his hands on his hips.

"Really!" I hugged Maverick. "Good job!"

"I know, I know," Maverick laughed. "Someone else, cough, cough Genesis, cough... She is also doing very well. But not as well as me!"

"Maves," I hit his shoulder. "Don't say that about your sister."

"What!" Maverick laughed.

"Sarilynn?" I turned to see Aunt Suzanne in the kitchen. "Come here, dear."

I waved goodbye to Maverick and walked into the kitchen. Matty stood against the counter, smiling. Genesis sat on one of the barstools.

"Sarilynn, dear, Matty and I have just discussed your living situation," Aunt Suzanne stated. "Yes you both are fine where you are living together, but it isn't quite the exact fit."

I felt Matty's hand reach for mine, interlacing our fingers. I calmed down as he held my hand tightly.

"We didn't want to tell you this until you graduated, but we're going to anyway," Aunt Suzanne smiled. "We own your parents' property."

"What?" I said in denial. "Why did you keep it? You guys don't have very much money as it is!"

"Sarilynn, we wanted to give it to you," Aunt Suzanne smiled. "If you will accept it of course. If not then you can sell it yourself. We wanted to give you the option."

"I- I don't know," I took a deep breath. "I haven't seen it in years..."

"Well, after we eat, you and Matty can leave and go see it. How does that sound?" Aunt Suzanne nodded.

I instructed Matty where to drive, and soon enough I was in front of my childhood home. It was a beautiful two story house; flowers in the garden from when Mum would garden, Christmas lights on the roof from when Dad would climb up.

But now it was a dead garden, and falling Christmas lights. I bit my lip as Matty pulled to a stop. Matty turned to me with a sigh.

"Do you want to go in?" Matty asked.

"Yes," I nodded, stepping out of the car. Matty followed behind me.

I looked at the familiar key in my hand, remembering all of the edges of the key. I reached the front door and stopped. I took a deep breath before unlocking the door.

I opened the door to see the living room, empty obviously. The floors were in perfect condition and the walls had no gross spots.

I walked into the kitchen and say the familiar counters and cabinets. I turned around to see Matty looking around.

I rushed over to him, hugging him tightly. "I can't do this," I sighed. "Matty... this isn't my home."

"Baby," Matty kissed my forehead. "Let's look around still."

Matty held my hand tightly as I showed him around. Soon enough everything on the bottom floor was shown off.

I carefully walked up the stairs and deemed them safe. Matty followed behind me and I walked into my old bedroom.

The pastel yellow was still on the walls, and the hole in the wall from where I hung up a picture of Mum.

"This was my room," I stated.

Matty smiled, looking around. He noticed the hole in the door of my closet.

"Maverick did that," I laughed. "He was rolling around on his play car and ran right into my closet door."

"Really?" Matty laughed, and I nodded.

"He was three," I smiled. "Seems like just yesterday... Now he's about to turn fourteen."

"Whoa," Matty chuckled.

"Yeah," I nodded. "Do you see the little handprint in purple paint in my closet?"

"Yes, why?"

"That's Gen's, she did that when she was one. If you can't tell, they liked being in my room a lot," I nodded.

Matty turned to me, confused. "Usually kids are all over the place. Why were they mostly in your room?"

"My dad was an alcoholic," I answered. "He went into cardiac arrest partially because it's runs in his family, but also because he drank so much."

Matty looked at me with a sympathetic face, "I'm sorry, baby."

"Don't apologize for it, it needed to happen. If it didn't then my siblings and I would have been forced to be adopted. CPS was contacting us because the school heard about everything," I explained. "I can't live here. It brings back fun and awful memories."

"Well," Matty took a step towards me. "You can sell it, and we can buy a new place. Only good memories allowed."
