Fred opened the door and put a dirty dish with moldy bread in front of my face.
"Bon Appetite," he said "Hope it's your favorite food."
"Why would this be my favorite food, doofus?"
"Listen, little girl, you WILL regret all that you're doing."
"I regret saying anything because I didn't wanna hear your ugly voice again."
"Whatever," he left the room.
I started singing the chorus to The Proof of Your Love over and over again.
"Shut up!" he yelled.
"Fight me!" I yelled back.
"That'd be an unfair fight!"
"I know, I'm sorry I scared you! I would beat you in the first second!"
Then I sang louder. I practically shouted the song. Then, he came in with another tied-up person.
"I'm sure you guys have met," he said. It was Luke!
"Never seen him before," I said, making a signal to Luke to play along.
"Who is this kid?" Luke said.
"The person you'll spend the rest of your life with. Good luck, slaves."
What did he just call us?
"Um, EXCUSE me!?" I yelled "The closest thing we are to slaves are servants to God. If you want slaves, you better pick up this moldy piece of bread you gave me because that's the closest thing to 'slave' you'll ever get!"
"Really?" he said "Then let's see. How about YOU pick up that moldy piece of bread?"
"Over my dead body,"
"No. Over his," he pointed at Luke.
"Over a piece of bread? Are you serious?"
"Yeah. Pick it up,"
"Okay, fine." I picked up the piece of bread and threw it at Fred's face. It hit him.
"I'm gonna kill him!"
"Actually, I picked up the bread. You just didn't say what to do afterwards. It served as a fill-in-the-blank."
"You're so smart-mouthed."
"Thank you."
"That's not a compliment."
"It is if I take it as one."
"Look," he walked up close to me "I've been restraining myself from beating the living daylight outta you, because you have a very pretty face. But don't think I'll hold back when I do."
"You better back off you fat, stinky jerk."
"Watch the language."
"I was just calling you by your name."
"Shut up."
"Watch your language. I'm an impressionable soul."
"Who cares? You're mine now."
"You think that when you kidnap me I become yours? You're funny."
"I own you."
"Not really. Should we stop by the police station to prove that?"
"No."
"Shoot. You're so dumb I thought you would fall for that."
"Well, you were wrong."
"Not really. You fell for everything else. Now all you have is a little girl and a thirty-year-old man."
"For a little girl, you sure are smart."
"Yeah, especially compared to you."
"Keep staying stuff like that and you'll never get out of here."
"Was that not the original plan anyways?"
Then he called me some names that I would probably get slapped for saying and walked off.
"PROFANITY!" I yelled after him.
For a second, Luke just stood there.
"I didn't know you could get that way," he said.
"Depends on how mad you make me. You really haven't seen anything."
"Well, I don't wanna get on YOUR bad side."
"It takes a lot to make me mad. Especially after what happened to me before."
"Do you control it?"
"Not well. But it's not easy to get me on that bad side."
"Have I seen you on that bad side?"
"Nope."
"Yikes. That's kind of scary considering you were cut, shot, kidnapped, and pushed off a cliff."
"It takes a lot."
Then he came back.
"What can you guys do athletically?" he asked.
"I can beat the life outta you if you make me mad enough," I said.
"Oh really?" he came up to me. He punched me, knocking me down "In the mood to fight yet?"
"No," I said.
He picked me up and threw me onto the wall, making a huge dent in it.
"How 'bout now?"
"Uh-uh," I said, picking pieces of wall out of my hair.
"I know what'll make you do something," he walked over to Luke and grabbed him by the collar. It was choking him. His face was turning purple.
"You're not so big and bad," he said "You're just a puny little-"
"Stop!" I yelled. He turned my way, not letting go of Luke.
"Put him down," I said "This is our battle, not his."
He didn't let go.
"Down. Now." I warned.
Luke was obviously losing air and was about to pass out.
"PUT HIM DOWN!" I yelled at the top of my lungs as I ran to him and tackled him. Luke fell to the ground, gasping for breath. Then I just kept hitting Fred. I kicked his face as hard as I could. Luke starred coughing. I ran up to him.
"Luke! You okay?" then, Fred dragged me away from him.
"Hey! Let me go!" I shouted.
"Not until you tell me who he is to you and why you care about him so much. Is he your brother?"
"Technically."
"Is he your best friend?"
"Technically."
"Is he just a random guy?"
"Technically."
"Look," he said "I can't keep playing games with you. I kidnapped you. You are supposed to do whatever I say and answer all of my questions. Truthfully."
"But I am!"
"Is he your father?"
I paused. "No," I said.
"Who and where is your father?"
"What, so you can kidnap him too?"
"Name?"
"Jesus Christ."
"I don't have time to be messing around with you. Now answer. The name of your father."
I didn't know what to say.
"You don't have a father, do you?"
How was I supposed to answer that?
"A mother?" he said. I stayed silent.
"Oooh. Seems like Ms. Brave over here has a weakness."
He walked up closely to me.
"Mess up one more time, and I'm reporting you. I'm sending you to an orphanage."
