When it was morning, I was in a pool of sweat. I know it was mine, because it was Luke's shift again at this time, and Joel isn't a cuddler.
Okay, how was I supposed to break my situation to them?
Joel and I both woke up at about the same time. We went out of the tent.
"Bed head alert," Joel teased. I slapped him in the arm.
"You don't have the hair to be teasing everybody else about their bed heads!" I laughed.
"So... Now what?" Joel said.
"Honestly, I don't know. We should be close-ish to home now." I said.
"How do we know which way to go?"
"We... Guess?"
"Guessing isn't gonna do it. If we go the wrong way, we're lost forever. At least at this point we have a chance at getting out."
"Maybe..." I took out my phone and pulled up the wifi menu. It showed a faint signal. "We can follow the wifi. If it gets stronger, we know we've come the right way."
"Nice thinking! Guess we have to start packing. Can't wait to go home."
"Me either," Luke agreed.
"Me either," I said. If I had a home.
Once we were almost done, a van that looked a lot like Jordan's pulled up not too far from us.
"Uh, guys?" I tried to warn them, but Jordan pulled out a gun, so we couldn't run.
"You ran away," Jordan said, looking at me "Now I'll kill all of you."
Acting time.
"No! I didn't run away! They found a way to escape, and they kidnapped me!" I yelled. Joel and Luke turned their heads.
"No we didn't!" Joel said.
"Yes you did. Don't lie," I said "In the middle of the night. You said that if I didn't stay with you, you'd kill me with our knife."
"Celeste, we never-"
"Any who," I interrupted Luke. I think it fits in. I need to act superior. "I think that since they threatened to kill me, I should be the one to kill them." I put my hand out and gestured for the gun.
"Celeste..." Luke said.
"Why are you doing this? I knew we should've never trusted you!" Tears started streaming down their cheeks. I wanted to cry myself, but I couldn't. I really didn't wanna see them cry, but then I realized that this was sort of a good thing. If even Joel and Luke can't see past my acting by now, then neither can Jordan.
"Please change your mind," Luke pleaded "I know this isn't the real you. You're scared and confused, and I get it."
"Luke, stop trying to reason with her!" Joel said "We lost. She's gonna kill us."
I pointed the gun at Joel's face. This felt so weird. What life choices did I make that resulted in me pointing a gun at Joel's head?
"Remember how I told you to trust me with your life?" I said. Joel and Luke looked up at me in fear. "Keep trusting."
As quickly as I could, I aimed the gun at Jordan and shot him in the stomach.
"Ah! Why did you do that?"
"Well one, I would NEVER shoot these guys. They're my fandom. Plus, they're too amazing to be hurt. Two, YOU ALMOST SLICED MY STOMACH IN HALF!"
Jordan looked up at me in pure hatred. I sneered at him.
"Let this be a lesson to you:" I said "Don't EVER play with a girl or her fandom."
Then, Charlotte started running to Jordan, screaming.
"Jordan!" she gave me a death stare and then lunged at me with a knife. I pointed my gun towards her. She paused.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't shoot you too." I said.
"Celeste, don't take it too far," Luke warned.
"Calm down, I just want an answer."
"Because we have the same fandom?" she stuttered a lot.
"Wrong. It's because I don't kill. I only protect. And also, you didn't necessarily commit any crimes. Jordan did. Remember this moment for the rest of your life. Go to concerts, listen to music, you can even stalk them, but don't go any further than that. They deserve to be shared amongst all fangirls and fanguys."
"Okay," Charlotte nodded "But what about Jordan?"
"Call the police. I know he's your brother, but he committed crimes. He almost killed two men that saved my life. And thousands of others."
"I don't have a signal here."
"Then go find one."
"Aren't you guys looking for a way out, too?"
"I was about to ask you about that. You don't know your way out?"
"Jordan dragged me along. Literally. By the arms. He said there was a better hope for us away from Ma and Pa. We've been out here since I was 11."
"How old are you now?"
"I'm turning 18 tomorrow."
"Well, happy early birthday. This year, try to find a way to celebrate your own way. Enjoy yourself, and no more crimes. Live by God's rules, not Jordan's."
"I don't believe in God."
"Well, now's a good time to start. Get yourself a Bible and read it. Keep listening to Christian music. By the way, why-"
"KLOVE was the only station I could tune in on."
"Anyways, God will transform your life in miraculous ways. In a way, I feel like we came into your life just to share this message. He obviously cares about you."
"Okay! Thank you!" she ran off. I smiled. Not just because of Charlotte, but because now I believed it myself.
"Hey guys, I think I just changed a life for the first time."
"You did great for a first time." Luke said "Alright, onwards to wherever that wifi signal was coming from!"
We rode our bikes and the signal got stronger and stronger. When it was getting a good signal, I stopped. Joel and Luke stopped after me.
"What's wrong?" Joel said.
"I can't go." I said simply.
"Sure you can!"
"No. I can't."
"Don't you want to see your family?"
"Sure, in a way." And by that meaning TRUE family, not blood.
"Did you and your family have an argument before you got lost?"
"No."
"It's no big deal. I'm sure whatever it is, your parents will put it behind them-"
"Stop!"
Joel stopped talking.
"Just stop. Stop talking about my family. Stop saying how much they love and miss me. Stop saying that I will go home to them and everything will be peachy."
"Why wouldn't we do that?"
I looked up at them, tears trickling down my face.
"Because I have no family."

I have very mixed feelings about this situation...
