Chapter 4
Grace's POV:
"Are you feeling ok? You've been awfully quiet." I asked Caleb who was once again being depressingly silent. He had been like this since I left Ms. Larson classroom. There were worksheets that we had to complete.
"Your not on your man periods, are you?" I whispered, trying to lighten the mood.
"Just shut up, Grace! You don't know anything, least of all about me." He snapped, giving me a glare at the same time. Ouch, hurtful much.
"Fine, whatever. Just make sure you come to the school hall after class." Those words were the last ones I said throughout the whole class. Caleb didn't deserve my words. I worked through the questions quickly and efficiently, without the need of any help. That was what was expected of a A* GCSE student. After I was done, I brought out a book that I found at the library. It was called Shades of Love and was actually three stories under one cover. I was still on the first story.(firework84 recomended this book).
"Hey," I sneakily looked down at the time on my phone. 1 minute till the bell rings. I turned my head so that I could see the culprit that disturbed me from my book. It was Zach Floyd, another football player. In my head, I was mentally counting down the seconds till the end of school. 10... 9... 8... 7. Caleb stiffened from beside me. 6... 5... 4
"I was wondering whether on not you'd like to go to prom with me?" 3... 2... 1! The bell sounded followed by a rush of teenagers anxious to leave school premises. Caleb angrily got up and left without tucking his chair under the desk. Now onto my main problem for the minute.
"Zach, I'm really flattered and all but I can't accept. I'm sorry." This was my nice version of saying no. That boy better be grateful thay he isn't one of those people that absolutely bug me.
"It's ok, I was kinda hoping you'd say no anyway." And with that he left. Gee, he sure bounces back quickly. I shook my head, grabbed my bag and made my way to the school hall. When I reached my destination, everyone was already there. I was surprised to find Caleb on stage fiddling with one of the microphones. After our last conversation, I honestly didn't think he was going to show.
"Well, I have some news for you girls. They changed up the system a bit." Caitlin groaned at the thought of all the extra work she was going to have to put in. From our friendship group, Lauren was the most hyper and Caitlin was the laziest with me and Alison in the middle.
"What we have to do now, is take videos of you doing all the categories. For example, with the performing arts, we can record you singing on stage and for the visual arts we can record you doing your arts choice. So in total we need about four films in a box. These get sent to the school in America where they choose the best group. The process doesn't apply to the Americans." Ms. Larson explained. This was the case because the American school was already chosen. We all nodded, dumbstruck.
"Sooo, shall we start?" Lauren said breaking out of Jaydon's hold around her waist. I nodded and walked onto the stage followed by the girls. Because of my unfortunate height, the microphone needed adjusting and guess who was doing it. Those of you who said Caleb were completely and utterly... Correct. It was a totally awkward situation since there was barely 50 cms between us. When he gracefully jumped off stage, I felt a breath of relief leave my mouth. We decided to do Oath by Cher Lloyd first. Caitlin started.
Yo, my best friend, best friend till the very end.
