Chapter 15
Aaron's POV:
"Well, at least our plan worked." Chad said, self-satisfied. I rubbed my temples trying to drown out all the noise of the cafeteria. There was a whole lot of hubbub about the girls from England. They were replacing Venice High's own band (in case you hadn't noticed, the band was loved). They performed at all the dances and shit. I couldn't give a flying fuck; normally I'd be cramming my tongue down some slut girls' throat. But with the break neck pace everything was moving at, I doubt that making out would be the last thing on my mind. The Christmas Holidays and Thanks giving were practically around the corner, family and friends were my main priority... Along with football, naturally. "Man, where you at? Last bell just went." Chad snapped me out of my daze and my converse clad feet got up of their own accord and walked to the field where I had last period and football practise afterwards. All the guys were already in the changing room so Chad and I were the last ones in. We grabbed a couple of spots near Quinn and Brett. "What took you so long?" Brett asked while pulling his jersey over his head. I rolled my eyes, not bothering to answer. Chad took this opportunity to pipe up.
"Idiot over here was too busy thinking about nothing." He nudged his head in my direction. I elbowed him in the gut.
"Shut up Chad!" He doubled over, groaning and clutching his torso. I heard a small snicker come out of Brett's mouth and sent him a glare. He slowly backed away with his hands raised up in surrender. "Woah, calm down Dr Banner. We don't need you to go all Hulk Smash on the rest of your team." A few of the guys nearby let out hearty laughs. Just then, Coach decided to make an entrance.
"Listen up, knuckleheads! The girls are out on the track today and I expect all of you not to get distracted by them and your heads in the game. Capisce?" I was used to Coach's insults; in fact they were practically seen as compliments. We all nodded in agreement. I, for one, wasn't looking forward to sharing the outdoors with the girls... Or more specifically, Trina and Cassie. In fact, all cheerleaders were off my list. Yes, I know. Unbelievable. But with all the recent happenings, I honestly didn't care. 2 minutes later, the entire team was out on the field. "I hope all you pansies are ready for this because practice is going to be intense!" Coach yelled at us. Damn... What have I gotten myself into?We started off with some laps around the field. It felt like nothing to me since I'd been doing it from my freshman years. I noticed I was the only who had finished; my head was so occupied with thoughts, I apparently seem complete 10 laps in no time. I'd have to keep that in mind next time when I had run laps. I watched as a few of the new players struggled. Hm, I made a mental note to work on the fitness of the whole team. It was another minute or so before the rest of them finished. Coach beckoned me to move on.
"Right, I want you guys to do 50 push ups followed by 50 crunches and end with a minute of the plank. Go!" They all dropped at the same time and commenced their push ups. I wasn't the type of captain that just gave the orders so once I made sure that everyone was participating, I dropped and did my own push ups. Once I got to about 35, I could feel eyes rested on me. It wasn't hard to figure out who it was. In the background, the sound of the cheerleaders muttering between themselves was muffled but I could still pick up bits and pieces of their conversations. Phrases such as: "Damn, he's so hot", or "I can't believe he did that..." and "what a douche". They were mostly about me, not sound cocky or anything. Nonetheless, all the talking was as distracting as fuck. I finished my push ups and rose to my feet. I turned to face them and gave all the cheerleaders my harshest glare. It obviously worked because they all fell into an almost ominous silence. Finally, peace and quiet. I smirked to myself and then carried on with the rest of my warm up. All in all, I'd say that practice went rather wonderfully.~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~
