Chapter 7
Quinn's POV:
Hate... One of the strongest emotions after love. It makes you do the stupidest things, like punching your best friend for simply bringing up a sore subject during the worst possible time in my case. That's what landed me in the Coach's office 20 minutes into *football practice. It could've been worse, my place on the team might have been given up for a *Freshman. I was good, not to sound arrogant or anything but I was excellent. I was recruited to play for the *Senior varsity team even though I was *Sophomore. The only reason I wasn't playing right bow was because the Seniors miraculously managed to get into the playoffs. Right now, that wasn't the matter at hand. When I entered the office, the coach had his attention placed on his computer, either he was watching something really important or was purposefully trying to avoid my gaze.
"Ugh, they're all terrible!" He threw his hands up in anger and then focused on me.
"Oh, you're here. Wanna tell me what you did now?" Yeah, Coach didn't know what happened, it was the principal who saw me punch Aaron in a fit of rage.
"I punched Aaron." The words coming out of my mouth were supposed to sound regretful instead they sounded smug.
"You punched your Quarterback and Captain?!" He yelled causing me to flinch.
"Well in my defence, he brought up the fact that Cassidy cheated on me with him." All the guys on the team knew how touchy that subject was so they never talked about it... Even Coach knew. The team was basically a daily gossip meeting.
"I agree it wasn't a good idea for Aaron to bring it up but that doesn't justify your actions. If you were angry, you should've channelled it into the game." Yup, those rare moments that a player spent with the Coach were used as therapy lessons. Oh well, at least I wasn't being kicked off the team.
"Oh, by the way, what were you yelling at before?" I asked lounging down further in my chair.
"Ugh, just that stupid talent exchange thing. One of the schools sent in their tapes. They're awful, they're trying to hard at the Football so they look terrible. It's really funny that no girls have submitted tapes for sports so they have no chance in winning."
"You never know, someone in the UK might go and surprise us. I'm gonna go now." With that, I hauled my ass off the seat and left the office. As I entered the changing rooms once again, I noticed Brett sitting by my stuff.
"Hey man." I said casually, trying not to show my surprise and awkwardness.
"Hey, I just wanted to say that even though my sister pulled all that shit we, we're still cool right?" Ah, I see what's going on now. Brett was worried that because of Cassidy, our friendship will go down the drain.
"Dude, of course we're cool. After all, who else am I going to complain about Aaron to?" I said jokingly. He joined in, chuckling. Soon, the whole changing room echoed with our laughter.
"Hey guys what's go... Why the hell are you laughing so hard?" Chad came in with his football helmet under his arms.
"Nothing, just discussing how much I would pay to watch Quinn punch our Quarterback again." Chad smirked and put his hand on my shoulder.
"Dude, I'd pay anyone to punch Aaron." Sure, he may have been our beat friend, but we were allowed to hate him at times. He then laughed which was a rare sight. Chad wasn't like the rest of us, he like to study and was school president. For him football was just a hobby and he didn't plan to make a career out of it. Thanks to my acute hearing, I managed to catch the sound of the door being violently opened.
