Matthew ran as fast as he could physically manage. His face was still red from... UGH! WHAT WAS I THINKING!? HOW COULD I JUST..... UGH! WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME! He mentally scolded himself then stopped in a clearing. People swarmed by his still standing figure. And her face... she looked utterly disgusted with me... I wonder if she hates me now... She probably does... What is wrong with me...

Matthew collapsed onto a nearly bench. He held his head in his hands. He started crying. Cold tears ran down his cheeks and fell to the ground. All the while the same thought echoed through his head. What is wrong with me what is wrong with me what is wrong with me what is wrong with me...

Eventually he was snapped out of his thoughts by a hand placed on his shoulder and a familiar voice. "Hey Mattie." Matthew looked up to see his brother looking down at him. "O-oh. H-hey Al-Alfred..." Matthew managed to say through his sobs. "Dude what's wrong? Why are you crying?" Alfred looked around the area, then back at Matthew. "And where's (Y/N)?"

After she couldn't find Matthew in the near are, (Y/N) had just sat down on a nearby bench, terrified to walk through the crowd alone. She just sat and thought of the previous events. Alfred had kissed her... Matthew had kissed her... Both in one day... What did that mean... She had never been kissed before...

She thought of the way her mother had kissed her father, and her boyfriend after him. She thought of the student couples she had seen kiss each other in the hallways or in the library... She thought of the word always associated with kisses... Love...

D-does this mean Alfred and Matthew both like me more than as a friend... A-are they in l-love  with me? What does this mean? Do they like me the same way mom and dad liked each other when they first met... If so, I hope this doesn't turn out the same way that went. A-and they both  like me? You can't have two people like you... D-does that mean I'll have to choose between them? Nonononononono I can't do that! I barely even know what love is... It's not like I have a good example to go off of....

Her thoughts are interrupted when she heard a familiar voice. "Now where the hell did that bloody frog run off to? Bloody wanker..."

"A-ah! Arthur!" (Y/N) quickly ran over to the familiar face and grasped tightly onto his sleeve. He looked down, shocked to see her.

"(Y/N)! What are you doing here? Have you seen Francis. Oh, and," he looked around then back at her, "Where's Matthew?"

"H-he ran off after h-he..."

"He?"

(Y/N) blushed and buried her mouth in his jacket sleeve. Arthur somehow managed to understand the gesture.

"He kissed you?"

(Y/N) nodded shyly.

"What about Alfred?"

"He did too..." (Y/N) said with a muffled voice.

Arthur hummed in response. "So they just left you here all by yourself?"

(Y/N) nodded.

"Well that was not very gentlemanly of them. Thankfully! The gentleman to top all gentleman is here to escort you. Now, do you have any idea which way he went?" (Y/N) shook her head. "B-but we could go check the clearing where we all were before."

Arthur nodded, "A brilliant idea. Madam?" He extended his arm for (Y/N) to lock her arm with his, which she did. She stayed close to him as to not lose him in the crowd. Together, arms locked, they made their way through the crowd of chattering festival-goers. (Y/N) was worried. She did not know what had made Matthew run off like he had. But there was one thought prevailing all the others. Love...

Arthur easily navigated though the crowd, (Y/N) never leaving his side. He is quite gentlemanly... She thought. She did not speak that comment aloud though. Arthur would ramble about how true it was. As much as she wouldn't mind hearing the Brit's speech of chivalry, she just did not have time for that at the moment.

Eventually, they reached the clearing she and Matthew had departed from earlier. And there she saw them. Matthew sitting on a bench, and Alfred standing above him. Matthew seemed to be saying something to Alfred, he seemed concerned. (Y/N) was about to call out to them when...

"YOU IDIOT!" Those two words from Alfred's mouth... those were the exact same words (Y/N)'s father had said to her mother on that day... that terrifying day...

"HOW COULD YOU JUST LEAVE HER THERE!? YOU KNOW SHE'S AFRAID OF CROWDS!" Alfred's voice continued to get louder. Tears ran down Matthew's face as he realized his mistake.

"I-I-I j-just.... I-I-I was s-s-so nervous... I-I-I j-just ran on i-instinct... What is wrong with me..."

They were fighting. Her only two friends in the entire world were fighting. right before her eyes... Just the same as her parents had so many years ago. She thought she could trust them... She had abandoned the fear that those she loved could hurt her. Only to have a everything she had ever believed be shattered right in front of her. She could not stop the tears. They flowed and flowed and would not stop.

"(Y-Y/N)?" Arthur said as she noticed her crying face. Matthew and Alfred looked up to see the result of their quarrel. A  broken-hearted, crying (Y/N) who had witnessed everything. They instantly stopped fighting and made a move toward her to comfort her. But she could not be comforted.

She removed her arm from Arthur's and ran back through the crowd. "(Y/N)!" All three of them called after her. She no longer cared about crowds. All she wanted was to get away from the scene she had just witnessed. She would never trust anyone ever again. In fact... it would be better if she never saw anyone again... If no one ever saw her again...

She ran out of the festival and into the forest... where no one would find her. She ran. She ran as fast as she possibly could. Never looking back. She would never look back. She had been betrayed by the only two people she trusted... She would never trust again...

She ran and she ran and she ran and she ran and she ran.......
