The trees were rustling the leaves as we were passing the houses. Our footsteps slowed as we all looked around. But there was no one around but we did see a crow. Robert was by my side and he was so still I had forgotten he was with us. I reached for my gun just in case. Robert was watching every move I made. His eyes were really big. I aimed the gun and his eyes got bigger. Then of all things there stood a zombie big as life. There was blood on him and barely any clothing.
Robert opened his mouth and his eyes had tears in them. I could see he was ready to scream but Damon put his hand over his mouth and whispered to him. Do not scream we will protect you. So Robert was very quiet.
Angel fired and the zombie went down and Damon took his hand from Robert's mouth. Then Robert said that was loud for a gun shot. Angel said yes it was. There was moans so they were guessing there were a lot more. Then she saw them and they all started running. The zombies were to slow to catch them. For that they were glad.
Then they made a left turn as Angel had grabbed their hands. They ran into an alley and there stood an empty house and they all ran in and locked the door. Shut all the curtains and was quiet. They were all full of tension. Then Angel took a hairpin and unlocked the basement door. It would be safer there in case they found a way in. You could still hear the moans as they walked.
The zombies were getting to close for them not to be worried. But in the basement I felt sure we would be safe. I caught my breath and wished I could just vanish. How nice that would be. Just to think a couple of days ago she had no child to worry about and no zombies. She was going to parties and working. Living life with energy and her love.
Now she was running for her life and watching out for a child and Damon. I was a little worried because I did not have many bullets left. Damon asked me if I was alright and I told him yes. They had to find a way to get more bullets. I did not even know if there was a store close by or not. Robert looked at Angel and said you are so cool. For an adult I like you and Damon. They both smiled at him and said we Like you also.
