12 years later
"She's kicking again." I place my hand on my swollen belly, as I feel movement inside of me.
"I don't think Agnes kicked this much," Kay says, typing away on her phone. "I was so scared there was something wrong with her but she turned out to be fine." She glances up from her phone and looks at the two-year-old sitting on the couch, nibbling at a piece of chocolate. "No more chocolate after this okay?" She tells my niece and I find myself smiling. Jason and Kay had named her after our grandmother Agnes; her death, almost six years ago, had affected Jason the most, and when they had a daughter, Kay suggested the name.
"Where's Jason?" I ask her and she shakes her head.
"He got caught up in something. You know, the company is doing really well." She tucks a strand of her hair behind her ear as she continues. "After you wore that special-maternity designed dress to the red carpet, our sales rose like anything in that department."
I smile. "That honestly was an amazing dress." I tell her. Since Jason and I'd inherited Mom's fashion company Georgia, I'd withdrawn my ownership when Jason and Kay got married. Kay now managed the company along with Jason helping out occasionally, whenever he got time out of his busy football schedule. He had made it to the national team seven years ago, and had been growing as a player ever since.
There is a knock on the door and my head of security, Charlie, peeps inside. "Ma'am, there are a couple of media reporters outside, asking to take a picture of the baby shower."
I sigh as I look at Kay who gives me a pitiful smile. Agnes jumps up and says, "I want picture. I'm the baby." Her eyes gleam in delight.
"Not you, Agnes." Kay says as she goes up to her daughter and picks her up, wiping away the chocolate spread outside her mouth with a tissue.
"Tell them I'll make an appearance after the party is over." I instruct Charlie and with a curt nod, he leaves.
"Look who's here!"
I look up to see Kevin entering into the room, hand in hand with his twins — Tiffany and Keith. His husband, Conor, smiles as he follows him inside.
"Oh, come and give your aunt a hug!" I say and the five-year-olds come running up to me, putting there small, chubby arms around my belly, in an attempt to hug me.
I plant a kiss on their cheeks and they run over to where Kay is standing, asking to play with Agnes who claps her hands excitedly. "I'll take the kids to the other room. You need anything just call me." Kay says, kissing my forehead and then hugs Kevin and Conor as she leads the kids out.
"So many people outside. Sucks to be famous, huh?" Conor asks, sitting down next to me.
Kevin laughs as he gives me a side hug. "It feels like yesterday that you'd released your first album. Now you're working on your fourth, had two world tours, you're married and you're pregnant."
I nod as I reminisce the amazing memories. "It sucks to be thirty." I state.
"Yeah it does." Conor says as he holds my hand in his. "But honestly, once the baby comes, you wouldn't be able to conjure up any other memory as happy as the one that's about to come."
I smile at him. "I remember how happy and thrilled you were when all that adoption hassle finally paid off."
"It was the best day of our lives." Kevin says and Conor nods in agreement.
I hear shuffling footsteps, outside and a yell as a woman shouts. "Jonathan! Come back here, right now. NOW." I hear a sigh as the door to my room opens and Anna raises her arm over her head, cursing under her breath.
