"Everyone reads a book, or a watches a movie and already knows what to expect. It starts off with a girl and bad a relationship, and ends with the girl finding the perfect guy. OR the girl thinks she has the perfect guy until a new one comes along. Different charters. Different story. Same ending. It's what people want to read, people want happy endings. But happy endings are for saps who have nothing better to do then cry for a relationship they will never have. It's sad really. This book is just like every other book out there and just like the other four we had to read. It sucked and I didn't like it.''
"Aurora James, your job was to tell us about the book. Not about what people expect and that you didn't like it." My teachers says. I glare at her. She knows I hate when people call me Aurora.
I look over to her and shrug. "I can't tell you how much I liked the book you assigned, if I didn't like it. I'm sorry.''
I tell my teacher, who also happens to be my step mother, and aunt as of this weekend. She sighs "Rory, I didn't ask if you liked it." She says and writes my grade down, I walk back to my desk. I'm not usually like that. Rude to my teachers. I loved the book the last time I read it. I'm a sucker for a romantic story. But when your life fits in perfectly with a book it is a hard to appreciate it. My boyfriend left me, just this morning. Three years flushed away because he didn't think we had the sparks anymore. Sure I felt it too. But I also always thought he would be the one. He broke up with me after my dad and my mothers best friend announced they were married.
"You guys can go to lunch. Make sure you have the first chapter of The Great Gatsby read by tomorrow. Aurora, come see me.'' Jen said.
I rolled my eyes and walked over to her. "I'm sorry.." I said. "Can we talk about this at home?"
"Rory, what is going on with you?" She asked. "You have been giving us the cold shoulder since breakfast.''
"It could have something to do with you telling me you and my dad got married while you were on vacation.'' I said. "Now..Mrs. James, I need to get to my next class."
"Rory.." She says putting her hand on my shoulder. "I'm sorry."
"It doesn't even matter anymore. You guys didn't ask me and it's done. Nothing I can do now.'' I say and walk out of the room.
"Rory.'' Says Kyle walking up to me.
"Kyle. Go away.'' I say looking at my now ex-boyfriend.
"I was hoping to talk to you." He says.
"I was hoping that you would drop dead. Sometimes things just don't work out."
"You're mad..I get it." He started
"Mad?!" I yelled a little too loud. I closed my eyes. "I am not mad, I am lost, and confused.''
He grabbed my hand. "I'm sorry. Just meet me at the library."
"After school? Because I have something to tell you about my father and dear, dear aunt.''
"She is pregnant?'' He asked.
"God no. I don't think so.''
"Even if she was, at least she isn't like biologically related." He says.
"She was still my moms best friend.'' I say and unlock my locker.
"Well, I need to go and get to class. But meet me at the library."
I nodded. "See you then.''

School went by slow. I was looking forward to meeting Kyle all day. All I can think about is Kyle wanting to take me back. I almost got hit by a car while day dreaming about it.
