Chapter 25

Aurora

I can already feel the Florida sun on my face, when I wake up the next morning. I can hardly get my phone to unlock, my fingers are trembling so badly with nervousness and excitement.

I haven't seen Piper and Jai in almost two months. 

"Wake up!" I can hear Beth yell from outside my tent, before I can even look at my text from Jai.

"Oh my god!" Kennedy groans into her pillow. "I swear to God, I will have a meltdown if she actually makes me wake up this early."

Tinsley is still dead asleep. She'll probably be asleep until 8:30 am. Another hour.

"Girls! Wake up." Bill says shaking our tent.

We all groan and sit up. ''We'll be a minuet.'' I say and grab my phone opening my text from Jai...

Mom says it is all dandy. Bring me a present or you won't be welcome in my house.

I smile and squeal happily. I can't to get out of here!

When will my ticket be here?

I text him back. As I wait for his reply, I slip on my ugg boots and sweater jumper, and climb out of the tent.

As soon as tomorrow.

I can't help but shout and jump up and down. When I look over Beth and Bill are looking at me like I'm crazy. No one else is out here so I am taking this opportunity to tell my mom and Bill.

"Hey." I say and walk over to sit by them. "We need to talk."

"About?" Beth asks.

"Aunt Piper said I can go stay with her. I think it would be a good idea."

Beth looked at me like I'd said the worst and dumbest thing in the world. "Why? Just to get out of school?"

"Beth, let her speak." Bill says.

"I need to regroup and gather my thoughts. I'm drowning here. For two months, I've had to watch Layla become pregnant with my boyfriends baby. Considering how far along she is, she got pregnant when Kyle and I were still together, and that hurts."

"Aurora, Kyle was a little fling, he and Layla have a real flame going on. I've never seen two people more in love."

I looked down. Little fling? Kyle and I were together for two years. We were not just a little fling. I looked back up at her my eyes wide, so I wouldn't cry.

"That right there is another reason. Not only were you supposed to be our mother. But instead you left us and became Kennedy, Liam, and Brett's mom. Then dad died, and you were Layla's mom. But you were never mine. It hurts mom. It really does."

She crossed her arms and sighed. "Please, please let me go stay with Piper for just until after Christmas. Let me go home today and pack, and let me leave tomorrow."

"No. Uh-uh." Beth says and stands up. "You are a selfish little brat Aurora. You don't see what I am trying to do for you every day! Until you see that, you won't be going anywhere. I also want you to patch things up with Layla. Or I'll make sure your life is hell."

Just as she is about to storm away I jump in front of her. "It isn't only you and Layla. If that's what you think."

The second she told me 'no', I made it my mission to change her mind. I wish I could tell her the whole reason, but I can't. She'll kick Tinsley and Max out and I won't let them be homeless.
