When Piper said we were grounded for a week, she wasn't kidding. She took our phones and wouldn't let us as much as step on the porch for an entire week. Today we finally are off punishment, and Claire, and Jaxson were here the second the sun came up.
I've been avoiding going near them again. I feel embarrassed for what I did to Jaxson. He says I'm forgiven but I can tell he is still hurt.
"Rory, do you want to go shopping with me?' Piper asked walking into the kitchen.
"Well I was just about to eat..."
"We'll go out!" She said and grabbed her purse. I smiled and grabbed mine before following out of the house.
"I want to show you this cute little café right outside of town." She told me.
"Oh." I say and buckle up.
The café Piper brought me to is so unique. It's definitely the kind of place Piper would love. They have a live indie band and the whole place is dimly lighted.
"There is poetry session in ten minuets." Piper told me.
I smiled and ordered myself a coffee.
After we got our orders Piper lead me behind a beaded curtain. It was so cute back here. They have candles lit every where and people are dancing and laughing, and sitting in small groups praying. It's a real community.
"Piper this place is amazing." I said.
She smiled. "Everyone this is my niece Rory."
The people who weren't caught up in whatever, turned to look at me. They all smiled and said hello. You can tell the people here really enjoy each other. They all look completely happy to be here.
"Rory, this is Summer." Piper said.
"She is like a little sister to me."
I smiled at her. She was short girl with long brown hair, and she had a baby attached to her arm.
"Who is this?" I asked and let her grab my pointer finger.
Summer smiled and looked down at her baby. "This is my daughter. We haven't decided on a name yet."
"How old is she?" I asked.
"Not even a week old. Just had her yesterday."
I looked at her confused. "Why aren't you at the hospital?" I asked.
"I had a home birth, Piper was my mid-wife."
I looked over at Piper. "That's amazing Piper."
She shrugged and smiled. "I love them." She said.
"Would you guys care for some soup?" Summer asked.
"Is it the--"
Summer nodded her head before Piper even finished.
"What kind of soup?" I asked.
Summer looked up and smiled.
"Placenta Soup."
I just looked at her. I've seen people do it in movies, but never once in my life, have I actually seen someone eat their placenta.
"I know what you're thinking." Summer said. "But it isn't that bad."
I looked at Piper as she was taking a bite, and I could feel my puke coming up. "Excuse me please." I said and ran to the nearest bathroom.
Once I was done puking, my phone began to ring. I looked at the caller ID, and seen Blair's number. I totally forgot to tell her I was leaving.
