Summer break, a time to relax and hang out with friends. That's what 17 year old Alina Winterfell
though it would be like. Her summer had been filled with moving houses. Alina was glad that she did not have to move schools though. The house that the moved into was her great uncle's mansion just 3 miles out of town. He had recently died and her family inherited his mansion. Alina loved his mansion, her and her family would always come here during the holidays. His mansion had a small farm behind it with chickens, a goat and two horses. Alina and her great uncle would ride through the woods on the 100 acre property.

Her great uncle lived in the mansion mostly alone except the small staff. The townspeople stayed away from the house because they thought that Alina's uncle would go a bit mad in there. Whenever he came out of the mansion and into town, he would tell bizarre stories of fantasy creatures, castles and fighting good and evil to save the kingdom. Some of the people thought that living alone made him mad with his stories. Alina didn't mind her great uncle's stories, she was always fascinated by them and how he would explain it in great detail as if he was there.

The mansion was beautiful both inside and out. On the inside were amazing hand carved animals and dragons. The spiral steps leading up had a huge dragon winding up the stairs. The rooms were huge and open. In each room were moving boxes and still needed to be unpacked. Alina walked up the steps and went to her room. She opened the double doors and was greeted with the smell of roses. Her bed was a queen size with large pillows at the head of the bed. The bed was a four poster with carvings of dragons everywhere. Alina's great uncle always knew she loved dragons so he had the bed made just for her. On the bed was a letter and a medium size box. She put her bag down on the bed and read the letter.

Alina,
I leave the following items for you to have.
A locket, for whatever you wish to put in it
A key, you'll know where it goes to
And a notebook, which i know you will fill it whatever you want.

Alina opened the box and found the locket, key and notebook. She put the locket on. And went back downstairs to get her boxes to her room.
On the way down she ran into her brother, Felix. He was reading his book and walking slowly. He looked up from his book. 'Lily wants to see you when you are free', he said. 'Ok thanks', said Alina. Felix never really called Alina's mom, mom. Since he was adopted by her parents 3 years ago. He still never felt at home with them. But every now and then, Felix would open up to Alina.
Alina went to the kitchen where she found her mom. Her mom was busy putting away pots and pans with the help of maid. 'You wanted to see me Mom?' Alina asked as she walked up to her mom.
Her mom turned around from the cabinets. 'Yes, you need to go and take care of the animals while we unpack here. And when you go out to do the farm animals take Torch with you.' Torch was the red wolf that Alina's great uncle rescued when he was a pup. Torch had always been loyal to the owners of the house. 'Ok i will, oh and can we get take out tonight?' Alina asked. Her mother put away another stack of plates in the cabinet. 'I don't see why not', she said with a smile. 'I will call it in once i'm done here'. Alina went out the back door and Torch followed her.
Once she got to the barn and opened up she heard neighing. Two horses came galloping up from the fields. One dappled grey and the other black as night. The dappled grey was named Echo and the Black one was Comet. Echo was Alina's horse and Comet was her uncle's. Alina feed the two horses and took out the tack for Echo to ride later. When the horses were eating, Alina took out her phone and called up her boyfriend. After a few rings he picked up. 'Hey, Sam, did you want to come over to the mansion and ride?' Alina asked. 'Sure i'll be there after 5 when my shift is done.' he answered. 'Ok, see you then. Oh and i'll text you the address.' Alina said and then hung up. She texted the address of the mansion and Sam replied with a smile.
