Alina and her adopted brother were in for a surprise when they found out they were part of a prophecy to defeat an evil of a land that is not their own.
Felix was freezing in the cot he was given for the night. Zachary had been nice enough to even give him a bed to sleep in instead of throwing him back in the prison. Felix shivered when a cold wind blew through. He got up and wrapped the thin blanket around him. Walking to the window Felix looked outside into the night. It had started snowing. Felix leaned against the wall and gazed out. He could hear wolves howling and that send shivers down his spine.
Felix wanted to run and get away from this place and find his sister. But from what Seth told him, he couldn't leave the castle unless Zachary gave him permission. And he knew for a fact that it was never going to happen. Felix looked around the room. He was put in a room with 10 other boys. The door was bolted shut with a guard outside. Felix sat back down in his cot and sleep eventually took hold of him. Alina woke up with a start, she was still holding on to Dimitri. She unhooked her arms around him. Melody was standing on the ground. 'Alina, i have to show you something,' she said. Melody looked to the setting sun. She started to glow and grow. Soon in her place, Melody stood up on two feet, back in human form. 'Zachary placed a day and night curse on me. Animal by day, normal by night.' she said to Alina's shocked expression. Melody laughed and stretched. 'Now I have till the first light of sunrise before I turn back into a bird.' Dimitri looked around, 'we are close.' The woods where they were was deadly silent. Alina could hear her heart beating. Snow feel silently around them, covering everything in a white blanket. 'The shapeshifter is near,' said Melody whispering. A loud screech rang through out the woods. A snowy owl flew above Alina's head almost an inch from her. The owl landed on the ground on the snow. It was much bigger than the average size Alina knew. It looked to Alina with yellow glowing eyes.

'You are searching for me are you not?' A voice rang through Alina's ears. She nodded. The owl stepped closer. 'I know why you are here, you want to find your brother Felix don't you?' 'How can I hear you in my head?' Alina asked the owl. The owl flapped it's wings and grew to a person. In the owl's place stood a women. The woman was tall with white hair and a fur coat. 'I know that the one called Zachary has your brother, I myself cannot do much to help you, although I can send you somewhere where you will find help,' said the woman. Dimitri stepped forward in front of Alina, 'if we came all this way to find you, how come you send us down another path?' The shapeshifter turned to look at him with her eyes glowing more brightly. 'I am only someone to be called on in desperate times, this is not one of them in your case.' Dimitri scoffed. Alina looked at the forest surrounding her, 'Alight, then where do we go from here?' The women smiled, 'go north to the abandoned ice castle, deep in its dungeons lie a sword that will help you. But be warned, the journey there will test you in ways you can't imagine.' She then turned back into an owl. ' Be careful who you call a friend, and be warned what is to come soon.' The shapeshifter flew straight up into the trees and disappeared. Dimitri took his saddle off and started making a fire. 'We will camp here for the night before we are on our way.' The group finally fell asleep around the fire that Melody made.
