Felix and Seth were making their way through the forest. The two had been quiet for a while, but Felix had so many questions in his mind. Felix was walked a bit slowly while he was thinking. He was then stopped short when Seth put his arm out to stop him. Felix looked up to see something huge move through the snow. The creature moved slowly among the trees, barely making the snow fall off the branches. It sniffed the air and looked around, it then made a deep warbling sound. The sound almost sounded like a cry for help to Felix. The creature's call echoed throughout the forest. The massive creature then laid down in the snow but kept its head up to look around.
"Is that a dragon?" Felix whispered. Seth looked at him and rolled his eyes.
"No, you idiot, it's a wyvern, it looked like a dragon but only had two wings and two legs," said Seth as he slowly walked to the creature. The wyvern looked up at Seth walking towards him, it growled but stopped mid growl when Seth whistled a tune. The wyvern stood up and looked behind itself. Seth nodded to the creature and then gestured for Felix to come to him. Felix quickly walked to Seth.
"What did you do?" asked Felix.
"So many questions with you... I talked to him, I asked for safe passage", said Seth.
"Wh-."
"Stop. Stop with all the questions, I know you have more questions than I have answers. Its best to wait to ask your questions", said Seth looking very annoyed with the outsider. Felix kept his mouth shut the rest of the trek. Until after a few hours of walking through the snow, they reached a small village. A sign read out "Anchorpoint". The village was set about a half mile from a lake. Seth walked up to the nearest tavern and walked in.
"Wait here, and don't touch anything," said Seth as he walked into the tavern. Felix stood against the side of the building, observing his surroundings. Fishermen bringing in their haul. Carts of supplies going back and forth. It all looked normal, but Felix could feel a tension in the air. As the sun was slowly setting, the tension got more intense. People would look at the sky and then quickly run into their homes. One old woman came up to Felix with shaky hands. "If I were you boy, I would seek shelter and keep a bottle of lavender water with you. For a fortnight, He has been coming through the town."
"What do you mean?" asked Felix but the woman had already left. Felix was about to go after the woman but Seth opened the door and called him in. The tavern was loud and bustling with people. He followed Seth up the stairs to a room. The room number was 13, opening the room, they found two beds, a couch, and a small ice box. Seth took the bed on the right and Felix took the other bed.
"Get some sleep outsider, we have a long trek tomorrow morning," said Seth as he started to get ready for bed.
"I have a name you know..." said Felix slightly annoyed.
"Yeah, whatever..." grumbled Seth.
Felix got himself ready as well, and then sleep quickly caught up to him.
Felix woke up with a start, the window outside showed that it was still night. He looked over at Seth's bed, but it was empty. Felix looked around and his eyes settled on a single candle which illuminated Seth's face sitting on the couch. Seth was reading a book.
"Can't sleep?" said Seth without moving his eyes from the book.
"Yeah, I guess..." said Felix swinging his feet over the bed onto the hard cold floor. "What are you reading?"
Seth didn't answer and kept reading his book. Felix sighed loud enough so Seth could hear. "Well I'm going down to get something to drink. " Seth still didn't answer. Felix walked out the door and down the stairs of the tavern. A bartender was sitting at the bar filling out a book with a quill.
"Excuse me, can I get some tea?" asked Felix to the bartender as he tossed two bronze coins on the table. The bartender nodded and took the coins. Felix sat at the bar waiting for his tea. After a while the bartender got him his tea. He looked around and saw only two other people in the bar. An old man and someone in a hood drinking coffee. Felix took his tea back to the room. Seth was still reading his book but now writing footnotes in it. Suddenly the door downstairs burst open with a bang. Metal armor could be heard clanking around. Felix look at Seth, who had put a finger up to signal to stay quiet.
"Where are the travelers?!" shouted a voice.
Seth silently walked around the room, gathering his things. Felix put his tea down on the table and did the same. Seth guested for Felix to follow him. The two snuck out the room and went to opposite way of the stairs down to the bar.
Back down in the bar, two guards in full armor were interrogating the bartender. One of the guards was holding the bartender by his neck."Where. Are. The. Travelers." asked the guard again, more slowly. The bartender flailed his legs struggling for the guard to loosen his grip. "I-I don't know. Maybe in one of the rooms?" The guard slightly loosened his grip and threw the bartender into the bar. Glass shattered and drinks spilled everywhere. The two guards ran up the stairs and burst through all the doors. They burst through the room that Seth and Felix were sleeping at. "They were just in here," said one of the guards. The guards made a ear splitting screech that shattered the windows.
Seth and Felix made it safely made it out the tavern and made it to a barn. Right as they reached the barn doors did they then hear the screech of the guards.
"Grab a horse and start running!" said Seth as he grabbed a sorrel horse. Felix quickly grabbed a chestnut horse and the two of them bolted to the forest behind the barn.

Zachary watch the two boys through a glowing orb of his magic. "So close, if the next creature doesn't get them, I'll get them myself." Zachary collapsed the orb of magic and looked out in front of the grand hall of the castle. The griffin was sitting on his back legs with its front claws gripping the unconscious Alina. "Finally..." thought Zachary.
