Alina and her adopted brother were in for a surprise when they found out they were part of a prophecy to defeat an evil of a land that is not their own.
Alina found herself dreaming of the house. She was exploring a part of the house she had never been in. It was a winding steep staircase upwards. The windows had cobwebs in the corners. Once at the top of the stairs Alina opened a door. In the room was only a dusty book in a chair with another door on the other side. She looked to the right and saw Felix holding a staff with a green crystal at the top. He looked at her but didn't say anything. Alina walked forward to the door and what that stopped when she heard growling. She turned around and saw Torch. He had patches of scales on his body and legs. Smoke curled from his nostrils. A pair of bat like wings were attached to his shoulders. His eyes were a bright golden amber. Torch's growl was more monster than dog. Alina and Felix then ran out of the room into a bright light. Alina woke up to the sun shining in her eyes. 'What a weird dream...' she thought. Alina got up and went downstairs and smelled pancakes. Everyone else was eating. Her phone started ringing. One of her friends was calling, Izzy. 'Hey, Izzy,' said Alina. 'Hey! Are you liking your new house?' 'Yeah i love it!' 'Cool, do you want to go to beach later? I can have my sister Jess drop us off on her way to practice.' 'Ok i'll see you in an hour and a half?' 'Sounds like a plan! I will see you in a bit!' Izzy hung up first. Alina finished her pancakes and went to get her boots on and headed out to the barn. She opened up the barn and let Echo and Comet out. Torch came running out from the house. Alina gave him his breakfast. She went back to her room and went to take a shower. After getting out and getting her stuff together for the beach, Alina's mom came in her room with a box. 'You forgot one of your boxes downstairs' said her mom. 'Thanks mom, and hey, Izzy and i might be gone till dinner and we might find something in town,' said Alina. 'Thanks sweetie, have fun,' said her mom as she left the room. The doorbell rang, the ring was more like a gong. Alina ran downstairs and opened the door and saw Izzy. They hugged, 'Great to see you! Your house looks so nice!' said Izzy excitedly. The two girls went to the car and soon were on their way to the beach.

When they got to the beach it wasn't as crowded as they thought. Izzy and Alina found a shady spot to put their things. And soon they were in the water. Lake Michigan was cold but not too bad. After and hour and a half of swimming, the two girls went walk on the rocks. 'So... how are things with Sam?' Izzy asked. 'Things are great! We went for a ride on the trails behind my house and then had pizza yesterday.' said Alina as she pulled her dark blonde hair back into a ponytail. Izzy pulled out her phone and looked worried at it. 'Izzy? What's wrong?' Alina asked. Izzy put her phone away, 'I got a text from my sister, she said that our grandad isn't doing so well. My sister will be here in 10 minutes to pick us up.' 'That's fine, let's get our stuff,' said Alina as they headed back to get their things. They went up to the parking lot and waited for Izzy's sister to arrive. The wind kicked up, blowing leaves around the two girls. Alina looked up at the sky above the beach. 'Looks like we are getting out at the right time, i think there is going to be a thunderstorm judging by the looks of things.' Izzy didn't answer. She was walking back and forth looking for her sister's car. 'Hey,' said Alina holding Izzy still. 'Your grandad will be fine, you need to calm your anxiety for a sec.' Izzy calmed down for a bit. After a few minutes of waiting, Izzy's sister pulled into the driveway. They got in the car and right when Alina shut her door the rains started coming down. 'Good thing I came and got you two. And Izzy grandad is ok, but we should still go and see him' said Jess. She drove out of the parking lot towards Alina's house. Alina looked out the window, she gasped as she saw something outside, ' Alina shook off the thought and started talking to Izzy about her crush.
