Alina's vision blurred but she could still hear her brother's voice and another voice she didn't recognize.
"How do you know it's your sister? This is a dragon," said the unknown voice.
Alina felt a hand on her scaly neck. "I just know..."
Alina let out a sigh and smoke swirled out. She had never heard Felix say that she was his sister with so much emotion in his voice. She blinked a few times to clear her vision. She saw Felix crouching to her left with someone else. When she slowly stood up she looked down at Felix.
"How did you find me? Why are you here? Who is this?" asked Alina looking around at the arena they were in. She looked down at Felix, who was shaking his head, "I can't understand you." Alina's expression softened.
A gale of wind swept through them, they looked to the middle to see a pair of great black wings set down in the arena. When the wings folded up, Alina bared her teeth at the figure. Zachary. She bend he head down as if to protect her brother. But Zachary help up a hand and Alina found herself frozen in place. The gate next to the one she bursted through earlier was slowly opening. When the gate was full up the dark blue dragon stepped out with someone standing on his head. Alina looked closer and saw that the dragon had some sort of bridle on. And his wings had chains around them, preventing him from flying.
"I see you have taken to your dragon form quite nicely!" shouted Zachary.Alina ignored the comment and focused on Rowan. Rowan looked at Alina and his eyes shifted to the two she was protecting. He then looked at Zachary. Faster than a blink, Rowan twisted his head, knocking the person on his head off. The dark blue dragon bit his leg and the man screamed. Rowan threw him into Zachary with such speed and force, they were thrown into the wall.
Rowan then ran to Alina, "Fly!"
"But I don't know how to fly!" said Alina, panicked.
"It's in your instinct! Now go!" shouted Rowan.
To Felix, Alina and the other dragon were just growling and roaring. When the two stopped, Alina looked at Felix and then looked to her back and back to Felix. She hoped that he understood what she wanted. Luckily he did. Felix helped the boy to his feet and Alina could see that the boy's head was bleeding. The two boys climbed onto Alina's back and climbed onto the base of her neck where they could hold onto some of the spikes. Alina looked back and the two and Felix nodded. She extended her wings and flapped once. Rowan stepped back out of her path. Alina walked over to him and used her claws to slash the chains holding his wings. With some struggling, the chains came undone. Rowan was able to extend his wings and jumped into the air.
"FLY!" he shouted to Alina and breathed fire to the ground. Alina looked to where he was directing the fire to. Zachary had gotten up and was holding a shield made of magic to block the fire. Alina started running to gain speed. As she ran, she flapped her wings, Alina felt herself start to lift off the ground. She flapped her wings harder and right as she was about to run into the wall, her wings took her over the wall. Alina tried to balance herself in the air. It was much harder than she thought. She felt a sharp pain in her tail and looked back at the point of pain. An arrow had landed itself in her tail. Alina gritted her teeth and kept flying. She looked forward and tried to direct herself away from this hell. Alina noticed a shadowy figure under her and looked down. It was Rowan, he was gliding under her, almost guiding her flight. The two dragons flew away from the arena toward the mountains.
Alina felt the cold mountains before she could see them. The cold wind swept through her causing the spark inside her to ignite slightly to keep herself warm. After awhile of flying, they finally reached the North mountains. They landed at the base of the mountain right by the frozen door. Felix slid off Alina's back and jumped down into the deep snow. Felix had told Alina what had happened with him and the boy named Seth. He explained how he was captured and that Zachary radiates pure evil. Even though Alina couldn't talk back to him, her low growls and croons helped Felix know that she was listening. Seth had woken up during the flight and Felix gave him the rundown on what had happened. By the time they had landed, Seth had fallen asleep agina. Rowan had melted the snow around them, making an area so they didn't freeze. He had also broke a few dead branches off the trees and made a fire for Felix and Seth. After a while, the sun went down and Alina and Rowan shrank back down to humans.
The arrow that had stuck it's in her tail had gone along with her dragon tail.
Once they had all told their stories, a voice sounded from the darkness.
"Who goes there?" asked the voice.
Alina jumped up, recognizing the voice, "Dimitri, it's me, Alina".
Dimitri, Melody and Torch came running out of the shadows of the trees. "it's so good to see you again, let us not get split up ever again."
Alina laughed, "good idea".
And so, as the group settled down the night dragged on. But soon after the last person fell asleep, did creatures of Zachary's come out to play. The same guards who came to look for Seth and Felix earlier had come to the group's campsite. Seth had woken up and alerted the rest of the guards. He picked up his sword and starting fighting the guards. When the others tried to get up and save Seth, they found themselves unable to get close to him. Some sort of wall was separating them. The two guards fought violently against Seth. Seth was able to hold them off for as long as he could. One guard struck him in the leg, causing Seth to drop his sword and yell.
"Stop hurting him!" shouted Alina, but the guards didn't even flinch to her call.
The other guard took a long dagger from his side and plunged it into Seth's side. Seth went rigid and his eyes widened. Blood welled up from the wound. Bright red drops fell into the snow around him, staining the once pure snow. The world around them seemed to freeze as Seth turned his head to look at his companions. More blood dripped from the corner of his mouth. He whispered "I'm sorry..." He fell to his knees holding the side he had been stabbed. The two guards put a hand each on his shoulder and all three of them vanished into ashes blown away in the wind. The force blocking the group from Seth was now gone and Alina just stood there, in shock on what just happened. It was as if the world had resumed spinning just much, much slower than what it had been.
