Alina was freezing. The cold wind cut through her life a knife. The North mountains were looming over  them. Dimitri was unphased by the cold. Soon after trudging through the deep snow.  They had made it to the base of the mountains.

"The journey will test you" the shapeshifter's words rang clearly in Alina's mind. Alina was confused on what she meant, tested how? Dimitri jumped off his horse and helped Alina down. Melody had been keeping warm in Alina's hood. Torch was happy in the snow. His pawprints were almost as big as the horse's.

"Let's find a way in before it gets dark," said Dimitri "I don't want us caught out here in this part of the kingdom at dark."

Alina looked confused, "what comes out at night?" Dimitri turned around to face Alina, "monsters, demons and other creatures that you have never seen before. The kind of monsters that would kill without thinking twice."

Alina looked worried. Dimitri laughed and started to walk around the rocks at the bottom of the mountain, looking for a way in. After they searched the rocks. Dimitri shouted out, "I found it." Alina rushed over and saw a doorknob. Dimitri turned the knob and a door way opened up. They all went in and once they were all in the door shut itself.

They found themselves in a large hall way with ice growing out from the ceiling. The sun was shining slightly through the glass windows.  The sun had just set and Melody turned back into a human.

"Where are we exactly?" Melody asked. Dimitri walked down the hall, "My old home..."

Alina and Melody looked at each other. Dimitri walked to the throne that was encased in ice. "I know where the dungeon is, follow me." Alina and Melody followed him. He led the through a door and down several stairs. The further down they went, the colder it became. They soon came to an iron door which looked like something pried it open to get through. Long claw marks lined the room they were in. "Dimitri...? Why are there claw marks here, and why do I get the feeling we are not alone?" asked Melody. Dimitri drew his sword, "we are not alone. Those claw marks, they are the claws of an Ice Serpent. It can freeze you with its breath.

Suddenly the ground shook with a force that made everyone fall to the ground. Dimitri got up right away, "the serpent knows we are here. Find that sword and get out of here!"

Alina nodded as she veered to a passage to her left. Melody took the one on the right while Dimitri held his ground.

Alina ran through the passageway. She slipped on something. When she gotten back up to see what it was, she held in a scream. A frozen hand was poking out of the ground. Alina got up and ran. She found a staircase leading upwards. When she got to the top, Alina found herself looking over a balcony. She looked down and saw something move. She ducked back down and then slowly poked her head up to see what it was. It was the Ice Serpent. The Serpent was long and white. Alina looked at the head and saw the sword. It was encased in ice on the Serpent's head like armor. The Serpent roared so loudly, Alina had to cover her ears. She looked back down and saw Dimitri fighting off the Serpent. Dimitir kept lunging at the creature with his sword, but the creature was biting back.

Alina had to think fast, how was she going to get the sword? She looked around and saw a few rocks near by and picked one up. She went back the the ledge and with perfect timing, she jumped down onto the creature's head. With all those years of riding, she was able to hang on with her legs while the Serpent flung its head around trying to shake her off. Alina took the rock and started smashing the ice to get the sword. After a few hits the ice broke revealing the hilt of the sword. Alina grabbed it and pulled. The sword broke through the ice. Alina saw her chance and stabbed the creature in the back of the neck. The Ice Serpent wailed, went rigid and fell to the ground. Dimitri was shocked.

"You... You killed it...," he said panting. Alina looked amazed with herself, "yeah, I guess I did." Melody rushed in, "What did i miss?" Dimitri and Alina exchanged looks and laughed. "Not much my friend," said Dimitri.
