"Who?" asked Felix, confusion written all over his face.
Rowan growled happily, dipping his head to the newcomer. The newcomer was all dressed in dark leather with a red hood over her head. A blue bag was strapped across her shoulder. The three horses were well behaved and stood still while Rowan moved aside to let the newcomer in.
"Allow me to introduce myself, I am Jessalyn Knight. I found this place thanks to Rowan's fire messages, telling me what had happened after he caught captured by Zachary's men."
Alina stepped up to Jessalyn, "Where did you come from and also how can we trust you?"
Jessalyn took a deep breath, "seems you lot don't trust easily. I come from Georgiania, a small part of land to the west. Luckily, it's a place where Zachary isn't that interested in. Although, there are guards in the city, it is usually a quiet place. It is also where Rowan and I will be blessed.
On may way to find Rowan, I came across an old man who was selling potions of all sorts. I took interest in a few, soon the old man asked me what I was doing traveling. I told him that I was searching for my love and that he had been cursed with the day and night spell. He gave me a potion that would break the curse."
Alina's ears perked up, "break the day and night spell? The one that Zachary cursed me, Melody and Rowan?" Jessalyn nodded. "However it's only good for two doses..."
The three cursed animals looked at each other. "Obviously Rowan should take the first dose. Melody and I will decide on it," said Alina. Jessalyn pulled two small vials from her bag and gave one to Felix to hold on to. She opened the vial and poured the orange liquid into Rowan's open mouth. He took it down and looked around. He made a questionable growl as if to say "now what?" Soon he started coughing, black smoke rose from his mouth and nose. The dark dragon kept coughing until all around him was smoke. Soon after the smoke cleared, in the dragon's place stood Rowan, in human form.
"Rowan!" shouted Jessalyn as she ran into his arms half laughing half crying. Rowan chucked and hugged her back. Alina smiled, the potion had worked, but she was still unsure if her or Melody should use it first...
As the afternoon sun started to set, it cast a golden glow in the castle. In that moment, Alina felt like the had a chance against Zachary. The more she thought about it, Alina wondered how he even came into all this power.
"Sybil, can I ask you something?" asked Alina to the shapeshifter. Sybil turned to her and smiled, "of course, what would you like to know?"
Alina took a small breath, "I'd like to know more about this prophecy that Felix and I are in, and more about Zachary. We know he is powerful, but what made him so powerful?" Sybil smiled, "Yes, I can tell you." She gestured to the group for them to sit down. "Ah where shall I start then... Oh I know.
"About one thousand and ninety years ago, a man came to this land, Elara. He was powerful in magic but only used it when he saved us from the monsters that would invade the land time and time again. The man's name was Nester Winterfell. The people of this land voted him to be our king, but he denied such a title. He believed that Elara shouldn't be ruled under a king but at least guided through its time. Every month when the moon was in it top phase, he would leave the land to go back to his own. For him he would think he was gone for three days, but for us, time goes much faster. Nester's three day absence was three years for us. After about five hundred years of being with us, he took on a student that he could teach. You all may know him as Zachary. When Zachary was young, he was always intrigued on what Nester could do. He would always try to do what Nester could do but with no training he could not perform magic. Nester could see something in the boy that no one else could.
When Zachary reached the age of ten, Nester took him in to teach magic. Zachary proved himself more than once that he was worthy of studying magic and spells. Over the years Zachary became more independent about his studies. His usual daily lessons taught by Nester had turned into two lessons a week. Each night Zachary would stay up till the crack of dawn, reading and practicing new and old magic."
